Default Video: C7 Corvette Runs 159.5 mph Standing Mile

This was our final test before starting our upgrade R&D process. We wanted to have as much baseline acceleration test data as we could before making any upgrade changes.

Our bone stock 399 rwhp 2014 Chevy C7 Corvette Stingray equipped with auto transmission, Z51 and 3LT packages ran the following on this speed test:

0-60 mph: 4.2 sec.
0-100 mph: 9.6 sec.
0-150 mph: 24.4 sec.
0-170 mph: 45.9 sec.
Standing 1 mile: 31.4 sec. @ 159.5 mph

More information and videos coming soon.

Thanks for sharing John! Great testing!

Where could you possibly go around the Sealy area to run that fast that long?

Nice! It looks like the car started out in 2nd gear. Is that correct?

Car shifted 3 times and crossed the mile marker in the top of 4th gear a couple hundred RPM below the 6500 redline. That means it started out in 1st gear.

Great to see a high speed test. I really don't think this car is faster than a C5 Z06 in 1/4 mile and top speed acceleration tests. For example, on the autobahn, in my C5 Z06, the rate of acceleration to the top speed was way faster and the 1/4 mile as well. The specs for the C7 seem to shine in handling.

One thing I have not seen posted from GM is the HP to weight ratio like they did when the C5 Z06 first came out, which really aids in the performance of the vehicle overall. Don't get me wrong, the C7 is a great car overall, and I want one, but it is a pig in weight, and the extra HP only makes it marginally quicker than the last generation LS3 equipped vehicles due to the extra weight the C7 carries.

I can't wait to see what the performance options from you will be for this car. Those of us who love in Germany, or plan on going back, will need to have the power to keep up with the Euro's...

From an older CF post in another thread from 2010 - I am quoting another post and not making this claim myself.

"I've been to the Texas Mile 4 times.
This is an average of what I've seen (no inflated numbers due to a tailwind):

Stock C6 156-158
Stock C6 ZO6 165-170
Stock C6 ZR1 182-184"

It is an AT car. What rear end ratio is in the auto cars?

Also it should be noted that the ZR1 does the 1/2 mile ~156mph.

What piece of data available today would make anyone believe there would be any real significant repeatable difference in the standing mile time of the C7 vs the LS3 coupe?

-Power to weight basically the same.
-Aero... does anyone really know at this point?

Test car being auto, I would expect a manual to do better in this test. That car really seemed to hit a brick wall at 175.
