I hope the C7Z isn't turdboed

Some upsides to turbo systems is that you can mount the turbo's low in the chassis, so the added weight is closer to or below the car's center of gravity. There are also some turbo systems that are rear mounted on front engine cars...although they tend to have quite noticeable lag so the best mounting location is right by the exhaust ports on the head for reduced lag.
Current turbo cars have little to no noticeable lag so the old wives tales of monster lag are just that. There are also ceramic coatings that should be used on the hot side housings that reduce radiant heat to help manage underhood heat, and like my current turbo setup in my FR-S you can use thermal blankets made of kevlar and other insulators to further reduce that heat.
Of course there is the complexity of a turbo system that can be a drawback, but it's actually a pretty simple to understand system once you get your hands into one.

That doesn't mean a turbo is bad. I personally don't like them. A supercharger is a better option IMO if a NA engine can't get it done alone.

The light boost on a gen 5 v8 will along with packaging advantages have supercharged 6.2 liter engines being the order of the day for higher performance level production corvettes..
Probably have production not in Wixom but rather Bowling Green as discussed in the latest video of Mark Reuss and the motor trend round table discussion video (WOT)..
I'm sure the c7 z06 will be insanely fast and track worthy beyond most drivers capabilities.....
I wouldn't worry about heat or weight ....
This is not some "tuner" package....this is GM engineering and they don't mess around and do anything except deliver excellence in execution...
GM engineering is insane with their level of perfection in implementation of high performance...
The cost of materials will go up exponentially for sure ..but if you want to play....you have to pay....
I don't see me dropping the extra 30 grand or almost double over the standard z51 stingray but I will enjoy the testing etc...and for those who do buy them......they will have the best of the best ..

Turbos suck. They never last and will need to be replaced. Needless expense and complexity in my opinion. I also prefer a NA engine myself and would not buy a turbo.

I have owned a few turbo cars over the past 30 years, and until about 18 months ago I too was not a really big fan of them for a performance car. But I bought a 2012 BMW 550 with 400 hp/450 lb ft of torque from a twin turbo V8. I also recently drove a friends 2014 Audi S8. They will change your thinking about turbo lag. I still have a love of strong N/A engines as in the Z06 I had. But I would have no problem with a twin turbo Corvette if the engine is as well sorted as the Germans have them. I think the new Cadillac CTS turbo will be a good indicator of GM's turbo capabilities.

I'll take turbos anyday over superchargers. Especially over pd blowers.

No turbo, it will be supercharged with awd!

We already know a forced induction corvette is coming. It's completely guaranteed. Whether it's a Z06 type engine or a ZR1 level engine is yet to be seen but we already know for 100% fact that we will see a blown application.

Hmm, let's see.............
- ZR1 was S/C
- Keel's CAD pictures (which proved to be accurate on everything else) showed a S/C set up
So, C7 hipo version, whatever its called......................?
