Default Any thoughts on what I would run?

I have never run my car at the track. I have ~ 555whp and 493wtq on 345/285 PSS tires (new). What do you think I would run with some practice? I am guessing low 11s and 10.7ish on a track tire. Sound about right? Car is a 2009 Z 1LZ

That would be around average in decent weather on a good track. Great driver/weather could go a lot fast, poor track, poor driver a lot slower.

You've never run at the track.....then I'd say 12.5-12.2 all day.

there is 2009 z in the for sale section -- 100% bone stock. guy has a video of that car running 11.59 at 122 or 123 mph.- Bone stock these things make 440-460rwhp on average.

The real tale of hp is MPH. Too many variables on the ET- driver skill, 60 ft times etc etc. at 555rwhp your are 30-50 more rwph over a stock zr1. You should be at 130mph plus in the quarter which would validate your claim of 555 rwhp.

Anyone else? I am talking ideal driver/conditions with track tire and street tire. The car seems to pull extremely hard above 3500rpms.

The car has the power to run mid-upper 10's with traction and driver execution.

You, as the driver, with no experieince piloting a C6 Z06 of any power level down the track, I'm going to say a humbling 11.7-12.2

3rd gear goes to 123 ish so you should just hit be hitting 4th before you cross.

Launching is the total key. Just remember there are lots of videos on this forum of an owner taking his vette into the guardrail the first time around.

The factory clutches need time to cool down between runs too.

Good luck

Of course, you mean after the first few practice passes in the 13's and 14's.
I watched a first timer with a ZR1 make a half-dozen passes before I had a little talk with him and then he finally made one in the high 12's.

It's hard for newbies to grasp, that without a bit of seat time you don't go WOT quickly and that if you do get squirrly to abort the run.

Run it and let us know. It's hard to say with all the variables like track prep and driver to be the most important IMO. Also modded cars perform differently from what would be expected alot of the time. Some times average power is sacrificed for peak power when tuning or vice versa. Run it a bunch and good luck. hopefully yours is the latter. My stock Z on stock tires ran 11.638. That was my best. My average time is much slower sadly. I hit 11.3 with some old road race rears on (Hoisier A6s).

Hi guys just reporting in from fathers day drags here in auckland New zealand ,my first run 14.4 sec 13.5 third 12.79 @ 116 mph so i dialed in 12.7 for my eliminations went 2 more rounds before i stuffed up ,i had a 0.00 reaction time which i am proud of ,so basically got faster as day went on , but 1 question please i had traction turned off but 1 of my runs full noise in third the motor shut down for a split second and the message said recalibrating active handling still run a 12.8 , any reason why that happened ,other than that neat fun i was in with A group were i was racing guys with tunnel rams blowers so was pleasantly surprised they were only mid to high 12s anyway thanks for the tips oh yeh i also dropped my tyres to 22lbs seemed to make big difference by for now mark

Mark - what elevation s your track at? If you are above sea level that will also effect power and ET. I noticed your MPH is down (116). Even if traction limited, most can still get a decent mph out of te run 119+ unless elevation is robbing power. NHRA publishes correction factors due to track elevation.

Congrats on quickly learning the basic launch technique in only 2 passes. It'll even get better with seat time.

I couldn't help laughing about the "If" part of the sea level, when you really meant it's the amount above that affects power.

C'mon Fran, that isn't the whole story....raising the rpm by 300, will only give you perhaps 5-6mph, not 15.

You had much taller tires on it as well, didn't you?
