Default Installing rear license plate on C5

How do I remove the license plate outer frame cover on the rear of my 2003 C5?

If you look at an angle you can see about 1/2 inch from each corner there are plastic tabs. Get a small flat head screwdriver to push them in and it will pop out.

On a previous C5 I ended up breaking one of the tabs by pushing a bit too hard. There will be four tabs total that hold the surround on.

I felt stupid a few months ago when I put my first tag on I didn't even realize there was that bezel there. Then looked it up and was very careful defiantly don't want to break a painted part.

And they are expensive to buy another one ... GM has discontinued making them and if you find a dealer that happens to have one they are $105 for a plastic frame !!! ZIP products has a remanufactured frame but they seemed always be out of stock on them.
