Yes, the C7 is capable of 40+ MPG going 70mph! Proof!

If true and the terrain is flat (not going downhill), Wow!

This is how I'm going to sell the idea of trading in my Camry Hybrid to my wife!

Well, he did it for 26 miles. It doesn't prove much other than the car be pretty efficient at times.

You should have seen the gas mileage my C6 Z06 got while I was driving the 19 miles down Pikes peak. Unbelievable. But I didn't average 70 MPH doing it.
I've found my DIC reads about 1.5 MPG higher than hand calculated number.

Well, if you think about it, it's not that unreasonable to get this kind of mileage under the right conditions
In Eco mode, its basically a 4 cylinder car. And, it's running in a very tall 7th gear. And, it's pretty aerodynamic. And, it's not a heavy car like an SUV.
I can see these kinds of numbers on a level surface at the correct speed.

I can believe it as I got 32.8 MPG in my C6 at 65mph, on a 2 hour highway trip with the windows down for part of the trip and the AC on for part of it, and I don't have the extra benefit of cylinder shutdown technology or the taller 7th gear. I've figured all along that the C7 should easily get way better gas mileage than the C6.

I bought this car so I could hyper-mile.

Cruising at 70 MPH on level terrain, with no winds, no A/C on, I can rack up 30-31 MPG(hand calculated, not DIC readings) without breaking a sweat. Driving across Kansas in the very early AM, on I-70 at 80 MPH, no A/C, no wind and 70 degree ambient, my DIC will show 33-34 MPG(my DIC reads around 1.5 MPG high when checked against my hand calculated numbers).
