Pick a purchase (Z06 versus Grand Sport)
So here's the question... Which car would you buy? 2009 Z06 1LZ or a 2012 Centennial GS 3LZ with ride control. They are both 10k in miles and both are just under $50k in price. Both appear to be in excellent condition. The Z has new Michelin rubber.
I am a self proclaimed gear head that has owned many cars including racecars but not yet a Corvette, so I wanted to open the question up to all the experts here at the site to assist this corvette virgin...

I have a 13' GS and there are only 2 reasons I didn't get the ZO6, one is $$$ (just couldn't afford it) and the other was I didn't want a used one for fear of getting one that someone thrashed to death.

The Z06 is a great car as id the GS, so it really comes down to what your intended use for it will be. If you go by what is always stated when ithis question comes up, it is always buy the newest with the least amount of miles.
The Z is great if you plan to track the car the GS has more creature comforts and it is newer. For the street 430/436 HP is more then you will ever need. The Z does have that special something and you do see a lot more GS's then you do Z06's, so I guess it is really up to you.
Good luck and I don't think you will be unhappy with either one.

I would love a Z06 but the real potential of them dropping a valve would scare me about buying an older used one.

For the most part those that have GS will almost always say go with the GS and those with Z06 will say get a Z06.... The final choice is yours. I got the Z06 because I didnt want to buy a GS and every time I see the Z06 try to convience my self that its almost the same thing. Plus not that it matters but tons of people that dont know much about cars will ask is that a Z06..And then you have to tell them no its a GS and it has blah blah blah and thats why you got it over the Z06.... Get what makes you happy and what you can afford for 50k Im sure you can find a really nice low mile Z06 oh yeah and I have a Z06........

Easy answer:
a) Want to go fast? More HP? Get the Z06.
b) Want a powerful, yet, completely equipped and aesthetically well designed sports car? Get the GS.
I don't think one is better than the other. They are just different and please varied taste in driving.
