Default Go for it?

Ok I have just found out about a red/red 1964 Corvette. 327 4 speed, original owner, for sale near me. I'm not sure how many miles are on the car and the owner did say it probably needed a new paint job and a new interior. He claims it runs and I would probably be able to drive the car home. He's asking 12k for the car but I'm guessing he's got some wiggle room in there and I could probably get it for 10.5 or so. After some enjoyment out of the car I'll probably flip it. Should I go for it?

If I were you, I'd pass on it and send the phone number of the owner to me. But, that's just me.

So you're saying 10-12k should be a safe price for a running 64 vette? Again I don't know much about it without seeing the car but assuming it's not a complete bucket of bolts what would be a regular asking price for a 64 in need of a few things like I mentioned?

At least a feel a little more comfortable about it with that type of response.

Check the frame but if it is complete, drives and is not a wreck I don't know how you could go wrong at that price.

If its all there, only needs paint and some interior work and runs, its a steal at 12K

I know it's not a whole lot of info to go on but what do 64's in this type of condition usually go for?

There is too much information missing for an accurate answer........
But a wide range would be 20K to 40K

Just check for major rust, that might be a stopper for me. Still, it will flip at a profit at that price.

Well I promise that I if I don't buy it I'll give the phone number to the first person who asked for it (as long as the seller doesn't mind).

Ok all the info that I had at first was second hand but I just talked to the owner on the phone and he gave me the facts. The bad (possibly), not original owner, motor is not original (about 5k on the new motor). The good, According to him (again I haven't seen it) rust isn't an issue with this car, car is mechanically sound and it's a VERT w/hard top. I thought it was a coupe at first but this is even better. I have to buy it right?

The fact that you're sitting at the terminal asking stupid questions and waiting for obvious answers probably means that someone else already owns it.

Lol well that's my answer. It's a cousin of a customer of mine and the car isn't being advertised. It's still there.

If this '64 is at $12k, and even if there is no wiggle room, you are crazy for not buying it.
