Edmunds 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 vs. 2013 Nissan GT-R Premium Track Test
I didn't want this to get lost in the Z51 vs. Porche thread...

Interesting comparison. The C7 does quite well, especially since it's over $30K less.

Scraping the splitter.
Neat comparison. Interesting to read their "Comments" under the acceleration section for the GT-R. There is no "A" setting, the LC 'resets' after five launches (requiring a 1.5 mile "cooldown" drive) and if they were "losing power" on the 1-2 shift it is because the car was spinning.
The '14 Corvette is going to prove to be a very capable car.

wish Edmunds would stop lying about the 60-0 distance: nobody but them got 93'. Everybody else has gotten 104....
CORRECT YOUR **** EDMUNDS
my bad, even in the paragraph titled braking, the 93' figure is not there and their best was 106'
what was i saying.... oh yeah:
EDMUNDS CORRECT YOUR ****!

Why do they compare the price of an optioned out C7 versus the base price of a GTR, quoting only a $30k difference? To make it apples vs apples, they should consider the base price of the C7 if they're using the base price of the GTR. Once you do that, the $30k difference becomes $46k. Even though they gave the C7 a good review this pricing comparison sounds biased, they did the same apples to oranges comparison with the porsche 911.

They also recorded a 12 second 1/4 mile run vs 12.2 for the other magazines, for good reason too. Watch their videos and you can see and hear that the Edmunds driver out drives the other testers in my opinion.
It's hard for anyone to suggest they "correct" their data if that's what they recorded.

This is actually a $56,700 (Z51 1LT MSRC) car vs a $97,500 car comparison.
So for a $42,000 difference I will take a .9 second slower 1/4 mile car that handles and stops better.
While I love the GTR for its technical and mechanical abilities, it is a bit of a boring looking car.

The GT-R is a worthy competitor. A friend loves his...when it not in the shop. He told me he's selling it before the warranty runs out because he can't afford to keep it running from his own wallet.

Will a C7 Z51 be able to run with the GT-R, Porsche Turbo Ferrari 458 or even the Audi R8, No it won't, but that does not mean this will not be one great powerful sports car that handles like no other Corvette.

IMO the GT-R offers a bit more, and it is technically a 4-seater with a pretty big trunk. But GM is offering an impressive car for the price!

it is still misleading... and as a consumer i hate being mislead... and since they were the first to publish i thought it was insane, then MT comes along and can't duplicate....so again Edmunds needs to re-test or stop printing bs! You mean to tell me they honestly thought that the c7 base would out brake a zr1 and gen 5 viper? no one in that stellar group thought how odd that was? we aren't talking 2 tenth off a 1/4 mile but 11-13 FEET difference in braking distance! that's a truck length!
It is all about the details.

They should also include rolling acceleration when comparing AWD cars to RWD. For example, if you look at the difference in time between 0-60 and 0-75, you get the following times for 60-75 mph:
C7: 1.5 seconds
GTR: 1.3 seconds
Difference starts to shrink, and this is only 60-75 which isn't much of a range, say if it was 60-120 or 60-150 I'd say the C7 and GTR times would be very similar.
