Default Help removing door panel

Hi all,

I have a 1970 and the driver's side window cranks up ok for the first 1/2 of travel, but then gets really difficult to close all the way, finally finishing with a squeak. I'm guessing I should take the door panel off to see what's going on/missing/broken, etc to get it fixed.

I've done a little searching, but have not found a lot of help. Does anyone know of a good detailed procedure for getting the door panel off? Even better if there was a video showing it as well? I searched Youtube, but didn't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated!

Your front and rear tracks are dry.
Don't rush in to tear it apart.
A little lube on the tracks got my '68 gliding again.
Before that my princess couldn't even roll up the passenger window.
A lite spray of silicon spray or light aerosol lube should work.
There are nylon rollers that get sloppy after a while but that is evidenced by a loose glass panel movement from side to side.
Try it and see if that suffices
Still unsatisfactory then we'll get the panel off off for you.

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) would be useful. It shows how the panels were installed, the clips, screws, lock ****, retainer clips, handle, and window crank. It also shows the window tracks you're after.

Thanks for the notes guys. I know I should get an AIM...and I will. Unfortunately I'm currently unemployed, so spending money on my toy is "frowned upon" right now. So I'm trying to do research on various things that need to be fixed so that I can hit it running once paychecks are coming in again!

So, where would I spray the silicone spray stuff? Just blindly down into the door panel?

Uh no.... You take a flashlight and with the window rolled down to look down into the opening.... Look for the metal channels , you may or may not be able to see the nylon rollers... aim with red straw and spray into the channels from the side where the opening is in the channel.... then roll window up and down a couple times.... spray lithium grease will last longer than silicone spray but may be harder to get to the right places..
