Default ZR1 Gas Mileage

What are you guys getting in your Zr1's and under what kind of driving conditions?

I'm getting about 13mpg city driving not beating on the car.

Now I didn't buy the car for the MPG rating, but thought it would be better than this.

Hell my Z06 got 19-20 in the city and 25mpg highway.

I get the same around town and might squeeze out 22 on the hwy. The blower draws a lot of load, gearing is lower and the car weighs more than the Z06. Like you said, we didn't buy these for the MPG.

Sounds about right for all city. I personally don't care as the lower mpg, the more fun I'm having. I get right at 3.7mpg on the track.

I'm getting 13.3 in stop and go traffic. Average speed indicates 26 mph.

I average 17.5 doing 80-82 on the highway. I can bump it up to 22 by doing 70. 2500rpms at 85 vs 1800 in the Z06, that's is one of the major differences far as gas mileage. Weight, is marginal at about 120lb at that...and of course the blower.
Wonder what the guys with 12-13's with the Z06 gearing are getting...

Like it has been mentioned the ZR1 isn't a mpg car but curious how the above are being calculated(DIC or manually)?

Noticed on my girlfriends GS the DIC is generous by 2-3mpg and the same for the Range Rover Sport we have when calculating manually at the pump.

My stroker is in the 13-14mpg range so I don't feel so bad now.

Manually for me. reset trip odometer each time (especially at the track) and divide by number of gallons to top back off.

Biggest issue IMO on the ZR1 for mileage is the lower compression ratio and gearing. It's just not a mileage efficient set-up. Plus, the car runs pretty rich from the factory for safety margin.

99% of ZR1 owners don't care about gas mileage as we equate smiles per gallon versus miles per gallon.

P.S. My CTS-V mileage sucks too due to the same low CR, gearing, and fat pig weight. Don't care there either as it's a blast to drive.

Good - just making sure everything is functioning as it should. Proceed with 13mpg.

I can tell the thing runs pig rich as I get a nice 'Blat' fr the exhaust whenever i shift from 1 to 2 to 3.

Man and I bitch about the 20mpg I'm getting in my Z06. Not sure why but I thought the ZR1's got better mileage then that.

Unless I had some deep pockets that might take a bit of the fun out of it for me eventually!

Well actually it does take the fun out of a road trip away. I no longer take the z out for no reason now. It's frustrating how freaking screwed we are! !

That's not much worse than my stockish 09 z06 here in San Diego, 90% stop and go. I do get 26 mpg on the highway though going around 75 mph, but I don't do much highway driving.

my zr1 is pretty much 1 1/2- 2 mpg less than the z06. which is a very small price to for that HUGE power difference

I just came off a trip. So I know I was getting 18-19 on the highway. Cruise set on 80. In town, around the HOUSE... I have no CLUE! But my Ford King Ranch with 10" Lift on 40" Tires gets 10.4 on a good day.
