If it's a DI LS7 then they would have to use a new cylinder head design. Due to injector placement and the intake ports would need to be raised to clear the fuel rails under intake manifold.

Direct injection ls7 would mean new heads also 6/8 operation oh and start stop at red lights thanks all you greenies. Oh I have a 2012 Z06 with 19,400 miles on it 2 years old this Aug. 26 we shall see how the heads play out unless my money ship comes in 69 retired.

They supposedly fixed problem in Feb. 2011 we shall see. Head should have a cast in date as to time and month produced it is most likely under the valve covers. So I can't tell what month mine were produced. I need to find out where this is. Heads are cast ahead of time so this may not be a good indicator. My car was produced in Aug 2011 number 2,226 car produced so very early z06.
Ext warranty prices are under 2000 so the 800 to check will go for extended warranty.

I might consider an extended warranty but have already put an intake, headers and tuned mine so the 36 month bumper to bumper is all I have left.

You can have ext warranty it will fix items not related to the engine I think.

My last five are 05642. Doesn't seem to coincide with 482 total made.

I don't think this article is at all right. It would assume that another motor was being built. I don't believe that's the case unless 3 performance trims will be available... again.
The LT1 was obviously designed to ouput more power/torque than it's outputting now. The CAD drawings show a blower on it.
My guess is that - unless there's a 3rd variant they're working - the Z06 will be a blown LT1.
