Default 110 octane "leaded" gas

I would like to mix this with the 91 octane 10% ethanol blend here in So Ca. Two gallons mixed with 15 gallons of 91 should net out at around 93.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't mix leaded gas with the ethanol blend? This would be for a 66 327/350hp L79 with 11 to 1 compression. Thanks

Why? Are you experiencing detonation?

Yes, the previous owner decided to keep the 11 to 1 compression.
I've been using NOS racing formula octane booster with good results but I don't care for the buildup on my spark plugs, cylinders and valves that the MMT is creating.

I don't think the leaded fuel would be a problem but I'm very familiar with murphy's law.

The NOS octane booster is worthless in all regards.

Mixing fuels as you plan is fine, will mix as well as pouring two buckets of water together.

I am running the factory compression, maybe a tad more and have good results on 92 octane in all but the hottest of days in the summer.

I have and do spike with 100LL avgas. Mixed 50/50 with 92 octane yields 96 octane. 25/75 will yield 94 octane.

There is a race gas distributor in Okla City. I frequentlyy fill the 56 with 110 leaded. It loves it, I love it, it smells great, runs great.

NOS racing formula octane booster with good results
As said that stuff is garbage. When it says it raises it 3 4 points or whatever it really means from 91 to 91.3

Been using this it works real well and they will ship to Ca.
Run 11.5:1 on the street never pings. On 91 octane 34 deg was pushing it run closer to 40 now with this.

I dont drive it much so 1 six pack goes a looong ways.

Of course good race gas probably better (mixing it)

Well that answers my question about mixing lead and ethanol, thanks...

Tom, that's one expensive fill up 110 here is 10.00 a gallon. It must be nice to have money to burn, literally.

The 56 is NOT, repeat, NOT a daily driver. The price for 110 leaded here is about $7/gal now. When I feel extravagant, the 56 gets a healthy dose of 110.
At other times, I use 91octane NON-ethanol, which is quite common around here.

every once in a while i used to mix 2 gallons 112 leaded non-ethanol with 13 gallons of 93 unleaded ethanol in my 62 when i was running the rochester injected LT1.

the engine loved it, no percolation problems on the hottest summer day; and it smelled sooooo good..

but, too expensive to run on a routine basis.

Being in Kaaaalifornia you do know that since you've used the word "lead" that you are now on the official state watch as being an enviromental scofflaw.
Keep looking over your shoulder my friend.

I use 93 octane (Shell brand) with ethanol in my original 1962 340 HP 327 which has a 11.25 to 1 compression ratio.
No detonation or any other fuel related problems.

The Shell dealer tells me that the fuel usually has up to 10% ethanol but the wonderful state of Ohio does not require that the ethanol content to be disclosed on the pump.

If the engine has been blueprinted to get an actual 11-1, you MIGHT have a problem with it. If the heads/block have been just slightly surfaced and used stock compression height pistons in it, you won't have that much compression.

Before I spent money on expensive fuel, I'd check the spark curve and see what it yields. If it meets factory spec I wouldn't think you'd have a problem running 91 octane gasoline at all. But, I've never run any California 91 so don't really know.

In the meantime, my two engines that are similar to yours run fine on 89octane E 10 but they don't have aggresive spark curves in them.

If the NOS octane booster (a known placebo) is curing the problem, I think the solution is obvious.

I have used 100LL in my 57 fuelie but after changing to Shell 93 I find it runs fine and starts hot and cold with no problems.
It is a 4360 unit which I have been told won't run good regardless of the fuel but Bob Williams of Sidney, Ohio has tuned it perfectly.

That is Shell 93 E 10? Correct?
