Default Never realized this would happen so much in a Vette

Well very new to owning a Vette(3 weeks) and already I am amazed at how many cars pull up beside me and rev their engine.

First time was on our trip home from TN picking the car up and right before we got off the Interstate here in our town some kids in a Civic pulled up beside us and dumped the clutch and took off.

Wife and I cruised this weekend couple evenings and couple of Mustangs, Camaro did same thing around town. Then tonight while leaving a local school board meeting another older Camaro comes by as I am pulling out and dumps his clutch.

Do they not realize I am TOO OLD for this stuff

If I were 10-15 years younger it might be different

Is this "normal" behavior or is it just summer time and everyone is feeling "frisky" ????

yes. I had a guy in an older camry floor it at a light beside me last week like we were racing. I think he really believed he was keeping up with me cause we were side by side with him flooring his camry and me just doing my normal driving...

They're just frisky and foolish from the summertime heat. Keep your class and your cool; let them tear up their equipment and waste gas !!

The BMWs and Mercs are the worst. Every time one of them drives by its like they realize they have a tiny little pecker and need to prove themselves. Total waste of time.

But hey, you know what they say the difference between a porcupine and a BMW or Benz is.

I love when street bikes pull wheelies next to me on the highway

I did notice as my car got lower and louder I don't have problems with other cars bothering me anymore.

Only happened to me once. Driving thru an intersection a new GT500 on the other side revved the hell out of his car as I passed. He didn't come after me though....

I've had it happen a few times. One morning I had a guy in a blacked out import play games for few miles on my way to work. I revved my engine at a light to show him he was probably out-classed, but he took off when the light flipped green. His only problem was a radar unit was working that stretch and got him for 79 in a 40 and reckless op. I know this because I know the officer. That's why I let them go. I didn't even street race at rush hour when I was young and dumb.

Many years ago, when I was about 19 years old, I was street racing a Chevy Malibu 327, with my huge 57 Olds 98 371 J2 convertible. I lost that race by about one and a half car lengths, and a cop grabbed me when it was over. I'll never forget his words...."hope you enjoyed your little speed contest. I always pick up the losers".

Speeding, reckless driving, engaging in a speed contest, and a burned out license plate bulb, got me in so much trouble, (and expense), that I never raced again on the street. I spent many years of Sundays at the drag strip, and gave that up years ago as well.

Now, when someone's along side me at a light, with that "go" look, and sound, I just smile as if to say, "you can't be serious, my C6 GS against that! I wouldn't waste gas on you". Sometimes they get pissed at my attitude, that's when I really enjoy it.

Yup... every time I drive it.

I'm too old for this too, but sometimes the testosterone takes over.

I wouldn't know. Here in Oregon 1/2 the cars are a Toyota Prius and the other 1/2 are Subaru Outback's.

Take it to the track/strip . . . "His testosterone took over" is a lousy epitaph

Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, but owning a 'vette, most any 'vette, makes the statement, that you have nothing to prove.

It's common knowledge that you're the fastest badass out there...game over!

I've noticed just the opposite, usually. I saw a 03-04ish mustang GT in town the other day being pretty vocal with his pipes. I was behind him 2-3 cars in the turning lane and I could hear that horrible hollow sounding mustang exhaust over the other cars when we got the green light. I was in the left lane after we turned and got caught by the 2nd red light beside him..... now he was as quiet as a church mouse, I could barely hear his car over my stock exhaust when we got the green.

Yep...it happens a lot. I'm finding that it's the Hemi Challangers that almost always want to race. I don't even oblige. Not on the street.
