Default C6 as a DD?

Hey fella's...been on the forum for a bit but think this is my post. While I was deployed I've entertained the idea of trading my 2008 Duramax for a built C6 or modded ZO6 depending on price. I want to know how many of you daily drive your cars and what your thoughts on them are? I had a '00 Camaro SS built to the hilt and it wasn't a good daily driver but my commute is 12 miles round trip to work mostly interstate. For the winter I'd have to find a cheap mode of transportation but I'd probably sell my Harley so I could have a nice truck and car. Just wanted to get opinions before I posted my WTT thread. Thanks!

Using my 2012 GS as a daily driver without issue. As long as you watch out on your approach to a driveway, etc your fine. It has great all around view for traffic. Much better then my 350z. The main downside is you feel like you need to be extra defensive about where you park. To many people don't care about there own car let alone yours.

I DD mine everyday. Love it. And I've even started autocrossing it on the weekends. 2011 GS with 40K miles on it so far. It's still in great shape.

DD my 2010 coupe and also my '97 C5 before it, why wouldn't you? Where do you live, need a Duramax to get to work? Don't build it up so much, you'll love it!

I scrape everyday on the way out of my driveway and back in...plus multiple scrapes in the work parking structure. Doing the math over the almost 3 years I've had the car yields at least 1500 scrapes. The bottom of the splitter is a little bit chewed up (and I did incur a bit of damage hitting something once), but it seems like an easily replaceable part down the road. Either way, it's not something anybody notices and the rest of the car is in great shape.

I guess if we're sharing damage, I've found on my GS I get the most rock chip damage to the paint on the bottom of the mirrors and right around the rear brake cooling ducts. I hear people putting clear bras over the nose, but my nose has absolutely no rock chip type damage at all (knock wood!). For the rock chips that I get, I just touch them up with a paint pen every 6 months or so. I know they're there, but you can't see the repairs at all.

I DD my 2008 and it scrapes every time I come out of the driveway. It doesn't matter at which angle I try it still scrapes. When I scrape off the air dam I will buy a new one. i bought this car to drive it and that's what I am going to do. If I just wanted to look at it i would have bought a picture of a Corvette lmao.

2011 GS M6
8500 miles

I store my car in the winter. During the eight months I drive it, it's my daily driver. Other than scraping, it's a great DD. Gas mileage sucks around town, but you make up for it on the highway. I recommend using yours as a daily driver. It's only a car, no matter how nice. Drive it like you stole it.

My '12 C6 Coupe is a Daily Driver and is infact, my one and only car. This is my first Corvette that I have used as such. Previous Vettes were used up North 6 months of the year and were for the most part a weekend toy when the weather was nice. Being retired now and living in the South, I had a change of heart. I use it for both fun and transportation rain or shine.

My 012 coupe is my DD, although my wife has an 011 equinox that I drive occasionally for family events. I do put about 7K to 8K a year on my DD, both around town and on the interstate. It's driven about 8 to 10 times a week. It is our only vehicle, besides my wife's car.

My car is a DD but it is only a coupe. I have heard that the Z06 is not as user friendly as a DD, but one day I sure as hell hope to find out.

As mentioned previously this is an awesome car and built to be driven. Why not have fun? The only negative issue have I have experienced with the Corvette is that I have more issue when over-taking another vehicle of being side-swiped. It has yet to happen, but because it sits so much lower than most vehicles I guess people changing lanes just don't see you very well.

Arizona probably has more than the average share of crappy drivers so I know that is part of it, but that is the only thing I have run into driving my Corvette every day.

My 2008 C6 coupe makes a great DD (even through Michigan Winters w/proper tires). I really don't want to commute in anything else at this point; C6 seat time is a treat - even when the weather isn't!!
Enjoy,

I just got my C6 and it's my DD as well. Use to DD a 350Z. This is a lot more car than the 350Z. It feels much more solid and wider. It's smooth on the highway and pretty comfortable on the roads. Highway mpg is around 30. I agree on the parking thing, always worry with parking it lol.

But other than that, it's fun to drive and I think it's worth it, just give it a shot and you won't want to not drive it everyday.

While I like the Vette, I'd hate to think I had to drive it every day!

I don't have to drive it everyday, I get to drive it everyday. That's my way at looking at it.

Daily driven since 05 except for December - March. Canada eh!

Car sees an hour a day on the highway and the drag strip a couple of times a year. No problems. 100,000 kilometers (60k miles) and still on original brakes.
