help me evaluate this 64
Please review the pics and let me know your thoughts. I have ridden in the car, it is very presentable with some paint flaws on the hood but otherwise very nice 10+ yr. paint job with re-chromed bumpers. Decent replacement soft top from 79 (I think). Nice driver interior. Many mechanical mods which would need to be reversed. Some original parts available, several not. Original hardtop in original paint completely un-restored. I'm very close to pulling the trigger.
Thank you for any comments. It will be my first C2 and only second Corvette.

Engine block, trans and rear are supposed to be matching. Intake and belhousing are shown off the car.
I plan to bring it through flight judging and hope to work on PV (more interested in PV than flight points)
Price is high 30s. Still negotiating.
Car is very presentable overall. I just showed the few pics I shot while drooling over it.

Well, I always get a little suspicious about past front-end collision damage whenever I see a service replacement core support (hole for FI).
Block casting date and engine assy. date are very compatible. Frame looks really nice.

Having recently done a body off restoration on my 64 IMO I would look around some more. I see $$$ all over this car and with the market down on regular C2's I would buy one the way I want it and let someone else take the beating.
Parts and shipping are expensive and if you can't do the work yourself you are in double trouble. At the last Mecum auction I show a lot of good deals even on the 67's. It's a buyers market.

There does appear to have been a minor repair on the front passenger side. There is a visible seam on the fender. I do not think it was significant, but not sure where else to look. Headlights line up nicely and they both move at the same rate. It drives straight and looks true.

Not sure how many parts are missing. Carb, exhaust manifolds, valve covers, air cleaner for sure.
I'll check the latest Mecum data, but you have to add 10% premium. That's almost $4k to this price! Right?
I've passed on a few already and see a lot of dogs out there. Just viewed a 66 coupe yesterday in similar condition but wrong color and they won't budge much off $42k.
More opinions please!!

I added a few from the ad. I didn't take any myself. It really looks nice overall. The passenger door gap is very slightly imperfect. Not noticeable by a "man on the street". It takes some close examination to pick up on it. Could be adjusted perhaps.

As noted above, car was final assembled approximately on Jan 3, 1964.

The TRIM tag indicates:
E9 = Body built on January 9 (???) Is that really an E9?
64 867 = St. Louis-built 1964 convertible
490BB = Vinyl seats, but without Power Windows or Powerglide
4804 = Body number 4804
912AA = Medium Blue paint
