Default 94 AC blows out the floor and defroster vents

for one I am glad my AC still blows ice cold after all these years. but like the tittle states it blows out the floor and defroster vent. i have the base heater control. could this be as simple as a bad vacuum line or is this more then that

Could be vacuum as you suggest. Take a look at the hoses on the controller.

if its the base a/c system and NOT the elect a/c....then look for the vac line entering the firewall about a little toward the passenger side...just behind the intake. Somewhere right in that area will be a vac line thats headed to the cabin. They used to have a T there, and check valve to go to the cruise control too.

IF that is ok and has good vac, then the back of the selector valve has been known to leak. Its enough to hear. take that apart and there is a 'fix' that someone posted here recently.

Probably a bad vacuum check valve. Yours is located under one of the fuel rail covers. They are available at any auto parts store for under $5. It looks like this:
