Default Tell me about a 2005 LeMans Blue 1SB Coupe w/ Z51 M6

I had a 2006 Black 3LT Coupe w/ A6 and loved it. Sold it, long story and not going into it. It had 5,XXX miles on it when I bought it and 12,XXX miles when I sold it a year later. The 2005 has 19,XXX.

Tell me about the differences between the two, except for the obvious Z51 and M6 packages. Is there anything to look for and is there anything to be wary of in the 2005s? We are probably going to look at it one day this week or this weekend.

Thanks, Craig

The first-year C6s had a few quirks, including
  1. the requirement that you shift to reverse to fully shut down the car (M6 only)
  2. a motorized steering lock that can go bad and was eliminated altogether in 2006 (M6 only)
  3. a differential case that isn't as strong as subsequent years and more importantly has a harder-to-access drain plug
  4. an unpopular 4-spoke steering wheel
  5. a passenger airbag that must be switched off manually (on later years it was activated by a weight sensor in the seat, this may be a plus or a minus depending on your point-of-view).
That particular car is early-production and falls within the serial no. range of the crank-pulley bolt TSB, Document ID# 1597717. Verify that this work has been done.

Also, I don't follow C6 prices but it seems high. A few months ago one of the big online dealers was advertising a new base-model 2012s for $36K (after a stack of rebates).

Where? I always here "oh, you can get this for a lot less". The thing is I never find those kinds of deals.
I've checked cars.com within 250 Miles of my zip and the cheapest, comparably equipped, 08 is North of $36,000. The exception being 'proney' CF Members with an 08 CRM Z51 MN6 NPP w/ 45Kfor sale in MD for $33,250.

Anyway, I wasn't asking about the sale price just about any oddities with that Model Year, Installed Equipment. Much like the reply by torquetube covered.

I am buying a Viper this week, and I will be selling my 2006 A6 with removable top, Lemans Blue Heads/Cam/Meth/Stall/Boltons/etc,etc.

This car is friggin nice. I've had it at the track 2 times, and my best time, with me (many people can do better then me) driving, was 10.91 @ 127mph. This thing hauls ***, and will smoke my (soon to be) Viper.

It is a 3LT, and has many many upgrades. It only has 15,009 miles on it. And I will be asking $32,000 for it.

I am gonna wait to put up a FOR SALE add, until my Viper gets here, but thought I'd let you know since you were about to buy a LMB, with more miles and less performance.

PM me for more details, pics, etc, if you are interested.

The Maryland car listed is a completely base 1LT no: HUD, Memory Package, Z51, F55, NPP, Heated Seats. Not even comparable. The only thing it has going for it is that it is an 08. The others are all in Ohio, I'm in Virginia.

The point of this thread was to see any mechanical issues and quirks that the 1st year of the C6 had. Before I even went and test drove it. I wasn't asking anyone's opinion on how to spend my money. That's my business. I only posted the listing so the experts on here could give their experience on the car. Some of you gave me great advice for things to look for from their experience working on, owning, or just being fond of these cars. While others berated me over how I wanted to spend my money.

That being said the point is moot, because the car was a wholesale buyers inventory. It was only listed for 2 days and on the lot for 1 day before it left to go to an auction in Statesville, NC. It literally posted up on Cars.com and the local dealers website Friday, May 3, on the lot Friday and Saturday, May 4, and to the auction Sunday, May 5.
