Default Would like paint opinions - flame ahead!

Finally decided to bite the bullet and have it painted. (the Vette, not the bullet.) Gonna take it in next Monday and should have it back Tuesday - a month later. I'm pretty sure I'll go with the same anniversary red and am toying with the idea of ghost flames. Whatcha think? Have a wonnerful week, Bill

An entire Corvette paint job, plus custom stuff in a month?

The anni red is a keeper. Flames are not my thing, and definitely not all out flames. I think ghost flames are cool, but on someone else's car. Just my taste.

I do custom paint from time to time...and the one thing that I mention to my customers is that custom paint is just that. It looks great ( in most cases) BUT...when it needs to be repaired...do not be surprised that the repair costs can be much higher than you might think...due to trying to match and blend all graphics and make it look like no repairs have been made....or at least that is what a painter is trying to do....an undetectable repair. Fixing a paint job that has been damaged is totally different (often more time consuming) than painting it initially. It will all depend on the level of custom graphics you choose to do.

Flames look great on the Caifornia Kid not your Corvette.

I saw a Corvette on here with ghost flames that looked pretty good. I think it was a purple car with blue ghost flames or vice versa.

If you like flames and have seen another car with them and you like the way it looks, go for it. That car is for you so make yourself proud of it.

I love things that are unique. (Ghost flames) Make sure you have looked at something similar done by this painter. as long as the guy does top shelf work it will look awesome

If you are looking for encouragement I say just do it

Its not for everyone, I agree .... just don't get talked out of it because you don't want to draw negative comments from the all stock -why would you do that crowd...

life is too short to worry about that...

I have owned 3 red vets..red must stay

I love good flame paint works but it will never make it to vette. But if you like to have them on your vette ill like to see some pics of the before and after.

Thanks to all. Gonna be the same color as the video. Paint doesn't look too bad but it is. Haven't made a decision to flame or not. Very good point by Dub. Darn near changed my mind. The bad thing about painting it the same color is that I won't notice much difference if I don't do something a little different. I'm old, so old school flames are still "neat" (but I'm trying to get into the 20th [sic] century by at least ghosting). BTW, the painter is local and has been doing work for custom car owners for nearly 40 years. He's retired (we gotta stick together) and works on only 1-2 cars at a time so he should be done fairly quickly. His prices aren't give-away but middle road that I'm happy with. Happy weekend, Bill

Why not try some stripes? Artic white would set it off.

ghost flames would look AWESOME on that car. hope you do i man. lifes to short to wonder what the car would look like later..

when TALKING about custom work, most people cant SEE the result, and therefore it sounds weird or bad to them. I can SEE everything in my mind and knew right away when i wanted to do my stripe, it would be awesome. My wife tried for almost 2 weeks straight to talk me out of it.. the MOMENT i pulled the tape off after laying down the black, she looked at me and said "yeah, you were right. this is 1000x better."
I have only painted 2 cars in my life, and both of them had a different custom stripe. both of them she tried to talk me out of, and both of them made the car so much better in her eyes. I can see your ghost flames now, and they look awesome. come on, you know you want to

I think I've done pretty darn good. Haven't bugged the paint shop since I put the vette in for a new coat. Got a call last night. He tells me I'd better wear sunglasses when I pick it up on Sunday. Kinda got me worried! Have a wonnerful weekend, Bill
