C 1 seat adjuster position
I remember this being discussed a while back and I am confused after rebuilding my seats in the 62 with the help of the Al Knock DVD. Al says in the DVD that the seat adjuster goes to the inside. The bottom seat frame has a flat spot on the bottom to accommodate the adjuster so I know where to install the adjuster but when installing the seats in the vehicle does the adjuster go to the inside or to the outside? The bottom seats are the same except for the flat spot on the bottom for the adjuster. The backs are right and left so this is also a task to be done before installing them on the correct bottom.
Thanks

I just finished restoring my seat tracks this January in the '61.
Guess I'm not as big a fan of those videos as some here. After watching the convertible top video twice I was even more inclined to farm out the job to a pro. And the dash pad video was a little better but there are a lot of tricks you only discover after you run into them...

The adjusters definitely go to the outside. When I bought my car the adjusters were on the inside; the soft top would not store properly and hit the outside edges of the seat backs and ultimately destroyed them. When I rebuilt my seats, I used Al Knoch's video which showed the adjusters on the inside, just like they had been in my car, so that is how I reinstalled them. Except for the adjuster inaccuracy, the video and a lot of phone help from one of Al's guys got me through the rebuild. When I reinstalled the seats I still had the problem of the soft top frame hitting the seat back. When I read a forum post that said the adjuster went to the outside, I swapped the seat positions and also had to also switch the backs on the seat bottoms. Now everything fits properly and the soft top stores without hitting the seat back. A little misinformation can cause a lot of grief and extra work.
