Front License Plate, Sorry...
Have had my '09 coming up on four weeks now and I'm getting used to it & setting it up how I like it. I'm from Cleveland, OH, and that means three things---
1- My C-6 and my '65 Malibu are seasonal cars.
2- Learning in the Corvette that avoiding potholes is kind of like a video game.
And my question---
3- I'm looking for a front license plate system. I'm not going to show, just to drive and enjoy... Any suggestions?
Anybody a fan of this:

Thanks, everyone. I've gotten some great help here at this forum already and I appreciate it.

Many of us use this one from Top Flight Reproductions. Probably the nicest one out there if you don't want one of the motorized hide-a-way types:

I placed my front plate to the inside passenger side windshield and pushed it down into the dashboard opening. I attached small suction cups to the top of the plate for a secure mount. So far so good.

Love to.... But.....
I have several friends who are cops in the town where I live who say that the youngsters on the force really will write it up. As in stop you just for that. I don't mind obeying the law (in this case..)
I'll look into the top flight one. Any thoughts on removable vs. not?

13 yrs without a front plate. No issue so far. If you get stupid and get pulled over, they "may" add that to offensives. Most LEO here in Ohio understand how ugly a front plate looks on a vette and will turn a blind eye if you are very curteous yes sir no sir. Otherwise, go with TopFlight.

On my 6th vette and only the C4 and C5 have had front plates. Over 200,000 miles in C6's with no front plate and have never been pulled over.

question
Do you guys keep the front plate somewhere in the car so that you can show the cop and suggest some story as to why it isn't installed? Like, I'm waiting for the plate holder to come in the mail or some other story. Wondering what would be the best creditable approach/story to tell ? Thoughts ?

Drove my C5 in Lima and Columbus without a front plate for 4 years and haven't been pulled over for it yet. Same for my C6 I bought earlier this year. I'll leave the plate in the window before I'll ever put one on the front of a Vette.
**IMHO** If u do go the route of a plate, try to avoid any mounting system that involves drilling holes in the bumper at all costs. I just got done paying a cool $400 to properly fill and blend paint from the previous owner's mounting holes. Its everyone's right to do as u please, but just as TopFlight offers, there are some very good mounting options that don't require anything permanent.

Life must be great if that is all we have to fret about :}

I would suggest the top flight removable front plate along with the body colored frame. Looks good

It is a hard decision...plate or no plate. I don't want a reason to be pulled over. Spoke with some police friends, some police my area pull you over if you don't have a plate and some do not.
I went with Top Flight and I'm very happy with my decision.

Yes, but it's a secondary violation which means you can't be stopped specifically for not wearing a seat belt.
That's why OSP will stop you for 2 mph over speed limit etc., just to write the seat belt ticket.
