Painted my barrels, calipers & rotors
I did like a couple of others on the forum did with their wheels & painted my barrels, calipers & rotors last week.
I did not use the G2 system. I used what I found worked very well when I had my 82 coupe, POR15. It comes as a very complete kit & is easy to apply.
I bought a kit for red, a kit for black, & a 2nd 8 oz. can of black, which I just started dipping into when doing the 2nd coat.
I put 2 coats on everything & when it came to the caliper lettering, the chap stick "trick" did not work so I took a razor & ever so slightly slid the blade down the sides of the letters to cut the excess paint off & clean up the letters.
Here's the POR kit I used:
Here's the rotors & calipers original:
Then painted:
The insides of the wheels:
The wheels on the car before:
And after:
And a couple of shots on the car before & after:

Very nice and looks professionally done.
I cant understand why people pay several hundred dollars to powder coat them when they look as good as yours for twenty bucks.

I just noticed it's Por15, thats high quality stuff, it get used on submarines tanks etc....
they also sell good paint to help you stop rust, the paint is made specifically for it and to strenghten it.

I started using POR15 back about 12+ years ago. You could only get through a local "distributor" which was a guy selling out of his garage!
Back then the ONLY problem with it, was it would fade in direct exposure to sunlight (UV). We only would use it to paint the chassis, where exposure to sunlight was minimal. If topcoated, no problem.
Have they cured that issue??

Did mine a couple of weeks ago, on my Blk GS. I went with PPG black base (2coats) and 3 coats of clear. Sprayed with low pressure, high velocity gun. Rattle can VHT high temp on the rotor hats, kept calipers grey. Love the look, but now just hose the brake dust off the barrels
