I purchased a used Vette. How can I tell if the tires on it now are Run Flats or Non Run Flats?

Look at the sidewall.
ZP, RF, etc.
What kind of tires do you have?

don't think they're runflats. unless I'm wrong, per tirerack, bfg doesn't make a runflat.

I have those tires. Good tire, but not run flat. I carry a small compressor and plug kit.

What's bad about that is now that I know that I don't have run flats (thinking I did) and as loud as these tires are I can't imagine how loud run flats are.

I just replaced my loud *** gy super cars with michelin ps/as zp and they are very quiet.. Everyone here said as much, but I wa still skeptical. I was wrong, thy are awesome

the BFG's are not run-flats --- I had them on my C5 and as they wore down they were extremely noisy. Firestone run-flats on my C6 are MUCH quieter

The front ones are the wrong size...should be 245/40.

Only reason I mention it is that the traction control computer is looking for a particular ratio of revolutions per mile between the front and rear tires. If that ratio gets too far off from what is expected, then the computer will assume that some tire or tires is losing traction with the road. This can cause it to intervene and it will be very unexpected to the driver. I have never seen on the forum what the actual specification is, but if you are going to get new tires anyway, no reason not to get the OEM sizes to avoid possible problems.

Give due consideration to both Michelin and Bridgestone run flats (ZP) - both are excellent performing tires and have lower road noise. You will lots of positive reviews here on both.

They are not runflats but that isn't a bad thing. From my experience runflats have a much harder and louder ride than non rrunflats.

Tire noise seems to depend mostly on the tread design and pavement you are driving on. We replaced the GY Supercar runflats on our 2009 Z51 with Michelin PS2 ZP runflats for summer, and Michelin A/S+ ZP runflats for winter. Both are quieter than the Supercars.

We had a set of non-runflats on a Toyota Camry that were ok when new, but by 1/2 tread were so noisy I thought a wheel bearing was going bad. If we hadn't traded the car soon, I would have replaced them with something quieter.

Some modern runflats are very good indeed.

I won a raffle for a set of PS2 Zero Pressure tires and replaced my EMTs with them. As far as I can tell they make about the same volume of noise but it is a different noise. Frequencies are different and it is still damn near impossible to hear the radio when traveling at highway speeds on certain types of pavement.

I'm sure glad I didn't know they were not run flats before I went to Tampa the other day or I would probably have had a flat tire. Guess I better get me some Fix a Flat and a Nail Kit.
