2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified

Default Am I crazy???

Here's what I'm thinking.... trading in our 2 month old GS coupe Anniversary model for a 427 Vert Anniversary model.

When we bought the Grand Sport, I never gave the 427 a thought. We'd had a 2010 GS before and I was immediately taken with the 60th Anniv GS. It was probably a couple of weeks later that I thought.....OOPS should have gone for the 427 version. Same Anniversary package, stripes, etc. I guess if I'm going to take the hit, it would be better to do it sooner than later. We've always had coupes before and the only Vert I had was a '65 way back in '75.

It's not the need for more power, it's just because..... and I always wanted to own a "427".

Am I really that crazy? What to do, what to do.

Thoughts?

Your money your decision. The 427 is phenomenal motor but you are going to get taken to the cleaners and lose a good chunk of change after only 2 months of ownership. Either way your gonna have a great looking Vette.

Make yourself happy.........as long as you can afford it. That's what these cars are for.

Yes, I think you're crazy but that's my opinion.

My thought is you should look at the C7...you may like it and save yourself an extra bath.

Sometimes we lose sight of what we have and fail to appreciate.

Good luck.

Those 60th Verts Look very good. A 427 would be a plus+. But the GS is also a great choice. Either way its a WIN

I made this choice. I had a '10 GS and my intention was to get a '13 prior to the C7 release. I seen the 60th anniversary and it was a beauty.

My take is that while the C7 will be a nice revolutionary change for the vettes, I would consider the C7 a downgrade over the 60th 427 if you get the 4LT package.

Figure this, if you have not ordered it, you will pay 20k over sticker for a base C7. Wait another year you might get it for a reasonable price. But then somewhere along the line the Z06 equivalent will be announced. That would be your match in comparison to the 427. Why take the base when you can wait for the next higher end of the C7 series.

The 427 anniversary is a beautiful car. While the C7 will be a looker in its first year, the 427 anniversary isn't something that eyes will turn away from.

The anniversary 427 on comparison to the c7? You will only regret getting the C7 when the Z06/ZR1 equivalent is released.

That is just my opinion.

Either way, you'll have a great ride. I'm not a convertible fan, I say stick with the coupe.

Sounds like you will be asking this question again after the C7 comes out.

If you always wanted to own a 427, you won't get it out of the first year production C7. First year C7 buyers are going to hold their heads down and wish they waited for the Z06 equivalent comes out. Happens all the time. There are those who do not enjoy being parked next to the inferior car. It will happen after year one of C7s reign.

You are not crazy--- If you can afford the trade, DO IT! the 427 is a great motor, and there is minimal investment afterward if you drive it hard. I love my Z06, but I wish it was in admiral blue. .... but then again another minimal investment to get it to the color I like.

I can't help chiming in...The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys...If you've got the coin, do so as you please-life is too short not to enjoy the fruits of your labor IMHO.

Your crazy. Don't see the big attraction but again it's your money.

I'd wait for the right C7.

Life is short. If you want a 427 and can swing it, do it. What are you saving your $$ for? So you can cover the cost of an extra couple of months when your drooling in some nursing home? EF that.

As long as you are asking for opinions, I would say do it !
As long as you can afford it and do not have to go into debt over it,get what you want.My opinion would be different if you had to make payments on this change.
I have made similar "mistakes" over the years, but I don't look back.Just enjoy the car you want and if a C7 Z looks good in a few years, trade for that as well!

Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want. Get the 427 and F the wanting part.

Exactly what Rick said! If you've always wanted a "427" and can afford it, why not do it? It's not like you know for sure Corv. is coming out with another 427.

Matter of fact, none of us think that they will anytime soon. So, in a sense, this is it! This may be the last of the factory 427s. I'm not saying it is, but looking at it practically with all that EPA stuff coming down the road, it could be.

You decide because those are the facts we know now. This could be the one you hold onto for a long time.
