Default Swapping an 81-82 monoleaf into a 78-80: bolt right in?

Is it just a remove old/ replace with new operation ?

I'm stripping out my 81 and have found a local 80 that i would want to swap the monoleaf into along with my rear pumpkin (&3.54 gears)!

PS - I'm talking the entire rear assembly (monoleaf, pumpkin, carrier, etc)

You've confused me. Everything under your 81 is bolt up for 80 and 82. None of it is bolt up for 79 and earlier cars.

OK - guess i wasn't clear.
Found an 80 (to replace my burned 81) with the gymkana 9 leaf and a stock rearend.
I want to swap in the entire rear assembly (carrier, pumpkin, monoleaf) from my 81 chasis over to it to upgrade it to monoleaf plus the rebuilt rear with 3.54 gears.
Is this plan a straight ahead bolt swap ? Consensus seems to indicate "YES"
Is this right ?

I think what was confusing people, was that your title said swapping an 81-82 monoleaf into a 78-80 car.

Since your post clarifies that it's actually an 80, that you want to swap a complete 81 rear into, then yes, as others have said, this swap will work.

80-82 rears are all identical, and completely different from 79 and earlier rears. Though all 78-82 Corvettes, equipped with steel springs, use the same 2 1/2" wide spring. 77 and earlier springs are 2 1/4" wide.

Have I completely confused you now?

Remember if your ratio changes your speedo will be off too
Maybe get the tailshaft speedo gears from the donor car
