Default ReggieD is BACK (IN BLACK)

Sold my C2 about 8 years ago for a 2007 CTS. I still have the CTS but now just purchased a 2005 C6 Corvette. (87K miles, 6speed stick, fully loaded) Black on Black. I am back in the family. Now it time to get my new baby ready for the Spring..

Checking thru forum trying to find posts to help me DIY in my garage. Basic tuneup stuff. Do anyone have links for me to look at...Thanks

Oil Change
Serpentine Belt change
AC belt change
Brakes fluid
Power Steering fluid

I can hear a squeak off and on regarding the belts, Car has cigarette smell, Driver door exterior switch hard to engage it has a sweet spot to open door. On nose of car, just behind headlight the car panels is slight detached from the side fenders. The panel are slightly up.

The sqeak is probably not a serpentine belt its more likely your harmonic balancer which is a known issue for c5-c6 corvettes. Look for a wobble of the harmonic balancer if it's wobbling then that's your issue. Here's a video of what you should look for.

I will check tonight regarding the wobbling. How much wobbling is too much. If you look at my post from the past you will find that I had to pull my engine apart on my C2 because the harmonic balancer completely came apart. Do I need to do that again for this car too. I just purchase this car cash on Monday.. Who can I contact to get a shop book or repair CD under $100 to work on this car. Also I have the first nav DVD with most city location missing. Who can I contact to get the latest DVD (1 disk) to upgrade my system. Will post a picture soon

If its wobbling like in the video or about there its to much. You wont need to pull your engine apart to change the balancer you will need to drop your steering rack however and then get an alignment after. Its a full days job at a gm service shop

Great NEW!!!!! THe harmonic balancer is solid..no wobble. THe belt squeaks rarely. Car sat for awhile in the guys garage. Maybe its the tension pulley or belt itself.

If you search for some of my post 6 years ago..you will see I was hosed back in the day...

NEW DAY...Updated Vette series "C6".
I had a busy weekend...Tune up complete:

Built ramps
(2) 2" x 10" x 24"
(2) 2" x 10" x 12"
Stacked and nailed the 12" piece on top of the 24" piece.
THe ramp looks like two steps.

Drove the car onto this 2-step staircase. This lifted the car 3"
Next used floor Jack to get the car high enough.

a) All this to change the oil, oil filter.
b) Cleaned car complete interior for 6 hours (past owner was a heavy smoker)
c) Changed clutch fluid.
d) Changed both fan belts
e) Change tension pulley for accessory belt (longest belt)
f) Cleaned/Oiled K&M filter/ re-installed
g) Added o-rings & c-clips, silicon gease on rubber to reduce roof noise

Next Week:
a) Adding Aux port to XM radio ports (Smart phone music in car)
b) Research and repair shaky rearview mirror
c) Car came with "SuperChips 2825 FlashPro Tuner" playing with it.

Some time this month:
c) Adding Motorola TK30 Bluetooth pro-install carkit
( I work for Motorola Mobility "Goggle" and my hobby background is car electronics. I hope to be very helpful for my Corvette Forum family. I first need to get myself more familiar with the C6 electronics)

My rear view was shaky... Your mirror basically twists off, I had a small o- ring in garage , don't know size it just happened to fit, and twisted mirror back on. No more shake
