How long did it take?
Hey guys, people always ask me how fast have I gone in my car and they never believe me when I tell them about 100-110 mph. Now I've had it for about 5 months and I wanted to ask you guys how long after you bought your car did it take for you to push it well into the triple digits?

I hit triple digits on the road home from buying the car. But didn't push it must past hitting the three digit number.

I went to pass a car on a long, straight stretch of country highway on the drive home from picking up my used C5 and hit 100 so fast it surprised me. Backed it down, and decided not to push my luck in an unfamiliar car.

I've owned my car for only 2 months. I have not gone faster than 90 in it and that was only because I was passing a couple of cars in a passing zone. The nearest freeway to me is I-5 and it's only about 90 miles away.
For those of you passing through Oregon - there is an interesting rule here. Get caught in excess of 100 MPH and you will lose your car when they catch you. That's right, 100MPH or faster and they take your car away from you. Then you go to court and pay fines. Be careful.

Haven't really pushed either of my C5's, but on a long lonely road years ago in my '91, I decided to see if the cruise control would set at 150.....................it does.

I've exceeded 100 mph, but not by much & not very often. What's more fun for me is the more frequently experienced rapid acceleration to interstate speed from the on ramp or the occasional burst of speed to pass someone on a two-lane road. It always makes me smile!

How long? I'd say about four years. The conditions were just right, and I thought I'd nail it. Got up to around 120 and then backed off. Was amazed at how smooth and stable it felt at that speed.

HAHA..
Blew it out sideways leaving the parking lot from picking it up. Less than a half mile down the road hit 120mph.. Probably would have gone faster but it was a back road and that was all the room I had..
Honestly that is probably as fast as I have gone in the car..
Way too much trouble if you get caught going that fast..

Probably the first week. I just wanted to see how quick it got there (coming from a V6 Camaro). I will say that I drove that car harder and faster than my Vette.

15 minutes after I bought it I got 97 on an on-ramp bringing it home more than a year ago. I was astonished how fast it got there. I'd like to keep my license, so it hasn't really gone too much faster than that on the street and only rarely.
I save the heavy-duty stuff for the track. I got 145 pretty easily at VIR last weekend without going over 5500 rpm and shut it down early because I'm on stock brakes. There's plenty more there. When I get a little more experience and race brake pads, I figure there is another 10-15 mph or so.

When I'm feeling wild and crazy I fasten my seat belt and get her up between 55 and 60. Wife hollers to slow down before you kill us both.

Hit a little over 170 leaving Memphis when I bought my first c5z, Cam only car. Buddy beside me holding on like he wasn't scared but stiff as a board.

About 2 months after I bought it. Hit 125 on a long, lonely, straight stretch of road in the UP of Michigan. I saw some big headlights appear from behind me about a mile back and I backed it down. That was over 2 years ago. Haven't had it close to that speed since.
