Default Some C7 titillation

This is from a bonafide source working on the Corvette High Performance Team. He's pretty giddy about what's coming down the line but cannot be any more specific than his quote to me below. And yes he is the real deal.
Trust me! He did the Open Loop calibration for the LT1. Open Loop as in
Wide Open Throttle.

"I really wish I could tell what is happening in Milford; but I can't. I'd love to share what I've been working on for the last year and what is coming for the next 3 yrs; but I can't. You probably wouldn't believe me anyway if I did share. Put it this way, GM High Performance is venturing down unexplored territory. If you think the C7 is awesome....good grief, it's gets WAAAAAAY better."

We all know DI loves forced induction and high compression so I can believe it. Let's not forget when the LS1 debuted everyone said how 15 HP (the standard M6 engine was the LT4 with 330 hp in 1996) wasn't that big of a difference but we all know how that worked out. The LS technology is light years ahead of any SBC when it comes to making quick and easy power. I bet the Gen V LT series will be similar.

Alan,

I think this is in line with what's been said about the change in the mission for Corvette. For the non-believers.

Hmmm - "unexplored territory " for the Corvette. Well, we've seen forced induction/super chargers already, so...........

Maybe a (gasp) hybrid supercar, like what we are seeing from Porsche, Jaguar, Lexus, etc. Put some of that Volt technology to work, get amazing mileage and performance. No sub 3000 lb weight targets, 'tho!

Either that, or they've perfected the flux capacitor with dilithium crystals!

Why? Oh, maybe it's because you're an uninformed car enthusiast that thinks that horsepower is the only component that determines performance.

It's actually about 1 out of 8 major items that determine how fast a car will be and how it will perform overall.

Here is the list, FYI:

1) weight
2) chassis stiffness
3) braking
4) aerodynamics
5) grip level, traction
6) gearing
7) torque curve
8) horsepower (power under curve, NOT PEAK POWER)

All of the above are supposedly light years better than the current C6 (which is already a world-beater) based on the interviews and marketing materials I've seen so far.
