Default '71 cp. for sale in Texas

SOLD--$14,500.00--SOLD, Going to Australia.
Thanks to all who showed interest, and thanks for all of the good comments.

Neighbor asked me to put this on the Forum.

Two owner (current owner since 1988--25 years).

85,xxx original miles

1971, Nevada Silver/Black vinyl interior---one re-paint (10 years ago)

350 (NOM), automatic, air conditioning, tilt/tele, p/s, p/b, p/w, power antenna, luggage rack, factory alarm.

Original engine replaced at 75,000, so replacement engine has 10,000 miles.
Owner has original intake manifold and carb. Also has original jack and storage tray.

Original seat and shoulder belts

Interior very nice (photos show with seat and dash covers, but original vinyl under covers is nice. Tear under driver's side door panel, and torn passenger side windshield pillar molding from t-top latch

My '55 Cameo in the background.

All systems operational--lights, fiber optics, vacuum for headlights and wiper door, runs great, stops great, shifts properly, no rear end noise, etc, etc.

I'd call it an excellent 10 footer.--A few very small chips in paint, the torn interior pieces mentioned above, radio replaced, needs proper wing nut for the original air cleaner assembly.

Owner has had usual mechanical work done on the car over the years:
Brake calipers
gas tank replacement
shocks
exhaust
weather striping replaced
carpet replaced
tires/alignments/tune-ups/etc.

Asking $14,500.00

Thanks,
George

$11K would be a great deal for someone. I'd put it in the $15K-$17K range.

Hi George,
Before I got to your thoughts on price I was thinking about $15,000.
It looks like a car that could be made to 'look' very original for not too much work or $$. Thus it would be great for someone for whom the original engine isn't critical, but wants a car that looks just like a 71 did.
The down side is that the cost a NICE paint job MIGHT make $15k a little too much to pay for it.
Regards,
Alan

13-15k for a NOM driver in decent shape is fair.Nevada Silver is a great color.

Default Imho

14K to 15K was the number that popped in my mind. Texas is a better market to be in too.

no original engine, ok paint and auto cuts the price for me.

ck completed sales on ebay, need an ebay account to do this, but that is free and no big deal.

Prior to 2008 I would have guessed that he would get 19 to 20K

Unless he is in a must sale situation, might hold onto to it until market improves and inflation takes off, but hey who knows what next, LOL's!

Bringing this to the top because of recent interest in the San Antonio/Houston areas.

Life long Texas car? Not matching numbers? Couple cosmetic blemishes? 15k all day long i wouldn't take a dime less than 13k period.

So you decided against the rusty 69 you were looking at? If so wise decision. Texas cars are MUCH desired due to the dry climate. Clean and rust free. 1971 was really the last year of the muscle car. They still had 270 HP and some improvements over the 69 model. You'll like this vette if all checks out. I have a 71 myself... SB auto. Believe me you will come to LOVE that automatic. Such a pleasure to drive without pushing a stick all the time.

Update:

The first interested buyer is out----shipping hassle, one small repaired area on left rear fender, and he thought the under carriage was not clean enough for him (very light surface rust only---not sure what he expected?).

Second buyer is out (he's in Germany, and the replacement Target engine block is too new for that countries tax laws--would cost him $2,000 Euros per year.

Third prospective buyer has made an offer lower than asking price, but seller is still firm on price at this time.

Forth prospective buyer is local and was supposed to come see the car Friday afternoon---No show/no call.

The Vette is still for sale at what we think is a very attractive price.
