Default Procharger Bid Red Valve Enclosed or Open?

I wanted to get everyones opinion on open vs closed Procharger Bypass Valve. It seems allot are running the open version. I am concerned about all the dirt it would be sucking into the engine. I purchased the open version and need to decide if I should sell it to get the enclosed version. It is mounted just inside the drivers side inner fender.

This is a Bypass Valve. It is pulling air in until boost come on. Then it closes.

If you have ever heard the big red you will know that thing pushes air out like a freaking jet engine. No worries on the dirt

It's only called open do to the fact the air comes out all the way around the top.top is basicly open, air goes every direction.closed big red directs air through the big port....btw the bottom part is the same, same valve, spring, coupler and all.just the peice that on top is different

Is there any particular reason this couldn't be used with a Vortech system?

Any benefits to it besides the noise?

How is this one compared to the one A&A sells, the Mondo valve?

I just know that on my last two systems that had bypass valves with filters on them. I would have to clean the filter from time to time. If I run this Big Red there is nothing to filter the air when it is open.

Is there any particular reason this couldn't be used with a Vortech system?
Yes it can be used on Vortech system. It comes with a pipe and flange that you would have to have fabricated into you piping.

Any benefits to it besides the noise?
It can handle large amounts of boost. High horsepower applications.

How is this one compared to the one A&A sells, the Mondo valve?
Mondo is Vortech's big bypass valve.

Just to reiterate, the air goes OUT of the valve, not in.

Think of it like your exhaust....you wouldn't put a filter on that would you?

Big red is an awesome BOV. But it's going to be LOUD. Definitely ride in a car with one before you decide to run it.

I took my friend's Silverado SS to get emissions tested, he has a D1SC and a big red, when I fired up his truck it scared the **** out of the emissions guy.

Ignore what the thing is called or you think it is called, as people confuse all the names.

If the above valve is used on a supercharged application. Air is always going out. NEVER in.

You can call it what you like, but it's still doing the same thing.

I believe the filter is there to reduce the noise, not fiter anything.

I love the sound. I want the car to be obnoxious. I just do not want trash sucked into the engine. If it is never pulling air in then I am ok with using it.
