Default C5 Euro Standard projector lights?

I have a C5 Corvette from Georgia and I am trying to get it street legal in Germany. It has the Projector style headlamps installed but I need the EU approved lenses with the E stamped on them so they will pass the state inspection. Any idea where I can get them or do I have to install the stock flip up headlights again?

Having brought my C5 back to UK I modified the car to meet EU regulations. The only lights I know which will pass the EU test are the T84 Euro headlights (T85 in UK). They are a straight replacement fir for the stock lights.

Not sure if US Forces have any concessions to bypass German regulations.

In that case you'll need to comply with local rules. You'll also need side repeaters, rear ambers and a fog light

Its a straight replacement and better lenses with H4 dual filament bulbs:

I've got the T84s for mine as an upgrade with Silverstar type bulbs. Didn't want to go through the hassle of HID. New they're pretty expensive, and come with a jumper harness to connect to the regular wiring harness. Found mine used here. There are a fair number of euro taillights for sale here if you search. Come with an auxiliary harness and you need to clip (IIRC) a white wire under the dash by the column. Factory rear fogs are ugly but people like Hella have auxiliary kits that are TUV compliant. For the side repeaters, I imagine you could buy the factory lights and mount them and fabricate a harness to run them in parallel with the turn signals. My $.02.

Take a look at this website. This is done by a UK member who modified his car to pass the UK inspection. It walks you through all the stages.

CF member Frederick lives in Germany and posted how to inhibit the DRLs using the relay mod. It may be worth PM him as he'll know all the detail for the German TuV Test. I'm sure its a European standard so the UK mods should work for Germany too. It's worth checking though.

With the T84 (T85) fit you can fit parking lights into the headlight units. I fitted side repeaters onto the fender but it's also possible to comply in UK by fitting them inside the gills. I'll dig out a picture.

Default Euros Installed

The lenses are glass and faceted to shape the beam. These are UK light which dip left. T84s dip right.

Default Side Repeaters

These are mine (also E Marked)

One UK member fitted side repeaters in the gills. Nice fit!

Default Amber Tails

If you can't get amber lamps the clears should be OK if you fit an amber bulb. It's allowed in UK but worth checking for Germany.

Euro Vettes have ambers on the outers and clears with the back up lights on the inners.

Default City Light

BTW, the E-code lights have a provision for a second 5W bulb that (for BMWs) is called a "city or opera" light. I assume that the thinking is you don't need headlights in a lighted city, but when on, the city/opera light makes the headlamp glow, providing further illumination/identification. Don't know if you would have to wire these also.

If you take a look at my pic in posts #14 and 16 (sidelight on headlight off) you'll see it. It replaces the US parking lamp. They are called sidelights in UK. The Eurovette has something more like a foglight as a parking light.

I ran a separate parallel circuit from the parking lights.

I believe England is exclusive in requiring rear fog lights and side repeater turn signals.

The T-84 is the generic E-code headlight for export vehicles. IIRC all export cars (euro or not) got the E-code headlights.

Germany however also requires headlight washers for HID equipped vehicles so HID projector headlights are VERY expensive (only one set I know if is street legal)

Alternatively, some have elected to have an "inspection set" of headlights and then switch back to the superior performing HID projector set after inspection is complete.
