Think the guys in the base C7's will want to race?
So GM said the base C7 will match the C6Z up to 60mph or so right? Are any of you looking forward to racing a C7... say at freeway speeds up to triple digits? Think they will want to race us? Just some topic for conversation as I am sitting at work
How long until the aftermarket products catch their cars up to our Z's?

Some will, some won't. No big deal.

Only if they want to lose.

I think those that have always been up for a race, or are that type of course will want to run us in their new C7.. I think from what I;ve read thus far..the C6Z will outrun the C7 (even if they bump up the HP from 450 to say 475) the C7 is still heavier by at least 100-150lbs .that said I think the C7 will be close, I don't see the Z06 blowing the doors off a C7.
Much remains to be seen until we see track numbers and final HP numbers published for the C7.
It would not surprise me one bit if in a few weeks GM released more info on the C7 and said
"with some fine tuning/tweeking, we managed to squeeze another 25HP out of the LT1 which bumps the power up to 475HP" or close to that.

The c5 never appealed to me, and I will have to say right now, from seeing the c7 in photos and in person, i am feeling the same way.

Anyone that wants to see tail lights is more than welcome to try me. I'm sure there will be an ego factor that comes with the new C7. We will be driving Model T's by them you know...

What we know:
* 450 hp at least, but probably closer to 475 hp once all testing is done
* 7 speed tranny with closer spaced ratios in lower gears
* new 6.2L matches our 7.0L in torque up to 4000 rpm due to the greater efficiencies of direct injection, higher compression ratio of 11.5 vs the 7.0L 11.0 plus the new variable valve timing camshaft. This new valve phasing cam is going to spread some beautiful torque over a very wide range of rpms.
* total weight, with aluminum frame should be close to our Z06s
Our Z06s should be faster in the 1/4 mile, but, probably not by much. The current GS is going to definitely be slower than the C7 standard model.

Actually 450hp has not even been confirmed, so hard to say "at least".
And the report from GM said "matches the GS performance". I haven't seen anything anywhere besides what you just posted that says the C7 is definitely faster than the GS.
