Well, I joined the club...
This is a continuation of this thread -

At 57,000 one of my valve springs decided to fall apart. Luckily, the retainer stayed in place and my motor did not grenade itself. While running a compression test my mechanic noticed that my spark plug wires did not have head shields. Then, one of the aftermarket plug wires ripped apart. THEN, he found that the plugs in the car were aftermarket duel tip plugs.
Needless to say, I now have new valve springs, plugs, and wires.
Oh, and the car runs better than it ever has.....

Glad you got it fixed. I run the platinum plugs in my Z06 and have the kool socks to protect the wires from the heat of the headers.
I also happen to have a high lift cam so every couple of years I have to swap out the valve springs.
I've learned that it is good to let your motor warm up a bit with after market valve springs because they are more brittle than stock ones.

Congrats on being relatively lucky... this could have been a whole lot worse. Please post the last 5 digits of your VIN, or PM it to me, so I can add your data to this study:
