Default The head of Audi's Quattro said the new Corvette is "no match for an RS6."

Greetings from Kabul Thrashcanistan. I opened my browser this morning and found the following links. Sounds a bit like jealousy to me.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/chevrol...whats-big-deal

I've always bought domestic, and I have a fondness for American sports cars. My opinion may be biased, but shouldn't the RS6 be compared to the Z06 / 51? I'm considering price range and tech. Thoughts?

LMAO.

Call me when that tank makes it through a corner without plowing and grounding its front tires into dust.

I would certainly hope that Audi's RS6 can best a car with more than 100 less horsepower and half as many wheels powering it. Forget comparing apples to oranges, that's like comparing an apple to a lamp.

I posted this somewhere else too...After living in Europe for 3 years (2 in London) I can honestly say most of them are still bitter about that whole "Independence" thing. Literally. Most of them loathe us as a whole (but certainly not individually, because that would be rude), and as a result any American car will always be subpar. No matter what. So get used to it, and just let it roll off your back.

Having lived in Belgium, I can agree totally. There were some upsides to it though. I also remember seeing a Corvette and one of the new Dodge Challengers. They got more looks and complements than the Eurotrash cars

It made me feel great as an American

Haha!! Maybe we should wrap a zr1 with the date "april 30, 1945" and drop ship it to audi headquarters with a note saying:

Your welcome.

Sincerely,

Us pesky americans.

One can only wonder why the guy found it necessary to compare a four-door, AWD wagon against a two passenger RWD sports car.

Although I agree this is apples to oranges that RS6/7 is a nasty car at 40K more price point. I will be buying a C7 and keeping my S6 and C5.

Check out the latest 2012 S8 and S6 reviews. The plowing is gone and they are quite nice cars now with differential electronics.

You guys should here the Audi drivers talk a lot of crap about Corvettes on the forums. American Audi owners.

I wouldn't say the plowing is completely gone, check C/D's Lightning Lap review of the S6.

Not entirely relevant, but this thread reminded me of the CTS-V challenge:

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...ults-announced

I'd love to see the Audi exec put his money where his mouth is like the gentleman in the article.

Note the souped up German vehicles landed 3 of the 4 bottom placements. FWIW, I own 2 German vehicles and love them.

I always love to see those challenges. No doubt the C7 will be tested soon enough. I cannot wait.

The only time I've seen an RS model at the track the brakes where on fire sitting next to me to get on the track. Literally, I yelled at the driver and told him the pads are smoking. Those cars are too heavy to be a sports car. Nobody makes brakes that cool well enough to be usable on a car that heavy.

Dear Audi,

Never in your history have you ever built a car that looks as good as the Corvette C7. And in all likelihood, once the hi-po C7s come out, none of your cars will be able to keep up with the Vettes, either.

Thanks for playing, though.

Cheers and thanks for the laugh.

Umm.. I would take a R8V10 over a C7 any day.

I'd say they build some nice looking cars, especially the interiors. The Z51 is a competitor to the R8 V8, and will probably be quicker in just about every scenario in the dry, and 90% of the time in adverse conditions (probably not snow, but come on now...). The V10 is probably a quicker car than the base 'Vette but Hi-po versions of the C7 will destroy it.

The R8 V10 is a better car than the base C7 (at least I would assume so), but I'd say the Vette looks better. I think the wide-body C6 looks better than the R8.

Talking Point:

The S8, Audi's big silly sporting behemoth of a car...

Hits 60 in 3.5.

At over double the price I would expect so!
