Another newbie question.....
Hello again everyone -
I have another rookie question.
When a C4 (1996) left the factory, what color was the outside of the floor pan?.....I'm referring to the area facing the ground that hangs slightly below either side of the center supports. (the brake lines run along-side of it, front to rear)
Just wondering if it's supposed to be black, primer, or color-keyed to match the exterior paint color of the car.
As always, thanks for your time !

Wow, that's a good question. I don't know
IIRC there's some body color overspray on the sides of the pan of mine - at least I think it was just overspray and not GM trying to paint them.
I'd be interested in the answer to this too

It seems like the entire outer surface of the floor pan (SMC or fiberglass?) is already tinted red, and not overspray....if that's even possible.
Not sure how the C4 was assembled in its day, but I assumed all the body panels were prepped and painted prior to being attached to the car itself, so I'm not sure where over-spary would even come in contact with the floor pan......but then what do I know, I'm a rookie !

I can't tell if the floor pan has some kind of coating (noise reduction?) or not. Maybe that's just years of grime.
On my gray 1985, the floor pan is gray under the "coating"
On my red 1990 Z, the floor pan is red under the "coating"
Hmmm ...

A body shop pal of mine confirmed that my C4 was painted from the center molding downward, which explains the over-spray.
I'm going to remove the rocker panels and cover the over-spray with a little Krylon flat black. Now if I can figure-out how difficult it is to remove the rocker panels.....Hmm

You asked how to and how difficult yesterday or the day before. You've not forgotten already OR have you?
