Default WTB c6 Z06 realistic price (continued, x2)

Well as the title says. They closed my last thread because someone else had bad language?? I thought they were supposed to get reprimanded, not my thread? anyways, I only got to see one car, so I'm still looking. I want to keep this discussion going since we should all know what a fair price is right now. Seems very grey.

There is currently a Black 06 Z on that auction site at a dealer not far from me (west palm beach, Florida) 58k on the clock starting at 33.5 with a buy it now of 37 and change...could probably negotiate it out to 35 as the listing has been up and down for a few weeks...

Looks like a nice car, one owner...

The 106k miles car is newly listed on Autotrader. It was likely the $24,500 auction price. The car looks rough and has some aftermarket exterior parts that don't suit me. The car is silver.

How long you been looking? This is the 3rd thread? Obviously you do not know the real market. Stop dreaming and make a real offer and you may get a car finally.

WOW: Didn't know there was a time limit or CF rule on looking!

Z06's aren't flying off dealer lots right now. It pays to employ a little diligence.

So do the work, email, call etc. No one on this board is going to offer "doc" a 5k mile 2010 z06 for $30k. Do the leg work and you will find your car. Obviously Chalky hasnt read the last 2 wtb thread and the end of the world ramblings of a few here. These threads do nothing but hurt the market on our cars.

I haven't kept up with your posts in earlier threads, but I don't really see you adding much value to either side of the debate.

If anyone purchased a show room floor new car and didn't expect any depreciation, then this will serve as a good learning opportunity for them. The cars will continue to depreciate as any other 5,6, or 7 year old car would. This is a niche market, folks. Not everyone wants a 500 horsepower sports coupe and even fewer actually "need" them.

Hopefully this thread won't turn into a pissing match and could, potentially, lead someone to a good deal.

Find some fool who is so caught up in the excitement over the C7 that he dumps his C6Z for a song.

Never said that all cars don't depreciate, I just think the "speculators" on the past wtb threads do nothing for sellers of these cars. In fact, they were getting all pumped up from the other threads that they would state their opinions on other for sale threads, thus, hurting the market. If you have a corvette you would understand. People were saying 06s z06s are worth $30-32k, etc. Ya, go find one then. Obviously these types of threads don't work as this is the third one started. They are getting locked for a reason....folks.

And no, I do not have a $30k z06 so I will not be adding any "value" to this thread like you apparently did.

How would a thread like this impact the market on a car? Nobody is holding a gun to anyone forcing them to sell their car for less. If anything, these threads are a good read and provide good perspective from both sides. I agree that the Z cars are due for some additional depreciation and I'm curious to see when it starts happening. Mass produced cars aren't going to hold their value forever. Once financing options dry up and newer and better models come out, something has to give.

Instead of making these threads why not just state exactly what you want and what you're willing to pay?

I'm sure you'll find the right ride for you sooner than later..

If a thread hurt the market... man, dealers ought to have a bounty on Doc by now!

Well said Black02... I'm in the market myself, and it's good to have information on your side - helps both sides actually.

People like you who get all butthurt and go to extremes (such as the bolded text above) to try to prove a point that no one is really arguing against is laughable.

I don't see any harm in someone looking for a good deal on a vehicle in the wake of a new production run. I don't see any harm in throwing out an offer on a car. Some people take offense to lower offers and some people actually reply back and start negotiating. No one wants to be sold short on either end. Apparently that is hard to understand for Suburu owners or those with STI in their forum name. An STI is a sexually transmitted infection, FYI. Good choice.

But I guess you called your shot - you've yet to add any value.

From your other posts, the market is obvious and clear - so why worry about one guy posting in an obscure subforum of an enthusiast website on the internet?

These discussions often pit "potential sellers" against "potential buyers" and there is bias everywhere. However, putting all of that negative bias into one single thread - versus forcing Doc to go elsewhere and increase those Google search return numbers - might actually be the best thing from your perspective... because at the end of the day he will still be asking and others will still be agreeing with him.

I also agree that these threads are informative and helpful, so hopefully it remains active until Doc finds his car. I also think he IS doing his due diligence, and Z prices over the next few months will be dynamic.

As an aside, having a 60,000 mile average for those auction cars is pretty good - the Z06 subforum tells me 40% of them should have dropped a valve by now.

As the original author of the first thread and new C6 Z06 owner... I am now scared sh**less of this.

[off-topic]

After seeing all those stock 2006's have an average of 56,000 miles on them... Go spend $2K on heads and valves for the Fix - which, by all known accounts in Z06's, should last at least 26,000 miles.

[/off-topic]

I keed, I keed! Just poking a little fun at the "logic" used over there, even though I agree that if you're ever in doubt, just go ahead and have the heads reworked by the shop of your choice: You may or may not actually have a failure (statistically more than 90% of you won't), but you'll sleep better 100% of the time. Personally, I consider checking the heads just another cost of ownership to factor in when buying a higher mile, no-warranty Z06. There can always be surprises with a used car - regardless of whether or not it's from a previous owner, wear/tear, abuse or a production defect.

I think it's funny that I made a thread like this months ago in the z06 sub forum and everyone laughed at me... Now it's a hot topic lol. I hope things start to change!!
