Default My new Vette. Pics. Story. Justification.

I'm a middle aged white man who has wanted to own a Corvette for a long long time. But owning a new Corvette earlier in my life was really never in the cards, as I was busy paying for food, clothing, and shelter for my family. I have bought the wife new cars and we've lived the American dream as best as a blue collar job would allow. Over these years I have had no regrets whatsoever. During these years there were a hand full of steak and lobster dinners, but it was predominately hamburger helper and hot dogs. There were no tropical destinations or 5 star accommodations, but predominately drive to trips to Canada and to the western states like Yellowstone park Woming and motel 6. No Sacks 5th Ave or Macy's shopping, but predominately K-mart and mostly Wal-Mart.

From the time I was a teen, I have literally done every possible shiet job in the book. As a teenager decades ago I hand picked produce which was long before the messican invasion. I've stocked hay in the barn in 120 degree temps for many scorching summers, harvested tobacco, cleaned ship bilges, scrubed dirty filthy power plant smoke stacks, shoveled coal, ash, snow, and manure. I've driven 18 wheel tractor trailers in all 49 states (13 speed manual transmission for you A6 ers) , including Alaska in snowstorms, as well as almost every Canadian province. I served my country in the military under the honorable President Ronald Reagan. In the last 30 years I've worked an estimated 2000 Saturdays and Sundays including at least 20 Christmas days, not to mention almost every memorial/independence/labor/thanksgiving/new years/and whatever else holidays people celibrate. I have come home many of these days with dirty and sweat soaked clothes.

A few years ago I payed off the mortgage and now have zero debt whatsoever. I've also managed to save some money along the way, enough to write the check on a brand new nicely equipped Grand Sport. I know many of you here can relate to my story and I just wish to offer this story to the guys who've also busted their F ing *** all their life and needed a story put into words, or perhaps tell their wife so they themselves can justify in their own minds on pulling the trigger on buying the most iconic American sports car ever built in the USA, and live the American dream, hopefully before they or this country dies.

I bought my BFN 2013 Grand Sport from Tommy Thompson jr at MacMulkin Chevrolete/Cadilac in Nashua Nh, whi I'd highly reccomend btw. I drove my tractor trailer from the midwest to the dealership and picked it up myself.

When I arived at MacMulkin, I walked upstairs to the 2nd floor to meet Tommy jr. I introduced myself and then said I have had a change of heart and now wanted a Chevy Volt instead. Tommy jr didnt remotely bite on my trick

Anyway, I've decided that I wish to live out my life living the American dream. So here goes...

THE PAYOFF - a new 2013 Grand sport 2LT

The best thing about this story is "I payed off the mortgage and now have zero debt whatsoever" (That's not the american way). The second best thing is getting that Vette! Congrat!!!!!

Very strong point above, and true, too. Quite an interesting story. And I don't know much about tractors but that's no slouch--el cheapo you drove from the Midwest to NH.

What I don't understand is, did the rollback pick the car up to trailer-height so that it could drive on? Looks like it to me.

Drive it and enjoy yourself! And we'll look for pics at home, probably in the garage due to severe "weather."

Edit: not up on terms. does "BFN" mean brand new?

Congratulations X 10!! You just gave a whole new meaning to "picking up a new Corvette"! A very cool enclosure on the flatbed! Congrats again and I agree 100% with your sentiments and assessments. If there is a Corvette Club near you check them out. A club can make the experience even better with friends and trips!

It seems that more and more folks are getting back to basics these days, and living the american dream the right way. Getting rid of debt, taking care of family, doing a little extra for yourself after many years of sacrifice. Congrats to you for doing such a great job living the dream!! great story and enjoy the new ride. Be sure ot post your phone number, as many might want to hire you to pick up their corvettes for them with that setup, lol!

I know thee feeling to a degree, I had given up on vettes for about eight years while starting a business and making sure things were settled finanicially. I recently had the opportunity to get one as well, and am paying off a mortgage on friday.
