Default The Last '82

Anyone have information as to what may have happened to the last 82? The last C2 and the last St. Louis car are reasonably well documented. The final C3 seems to have gone unnoticed in the ramp up for the C4.

I don't believe it,your thread has been up over a day and nobody has given you an answer after all the help you have given forum members. It seems there's nothing you don't know about corvettes.Maybe thats the problem,no one has ever seen you ask a question before. So I'll put you back in your comfort zone and ask you a question,"what's a c4"?

Per the thread you started in 2011, S/N appears to be 125408, and build date is somewhere in October of 82. Current whereabouts unknown but possibly in the Registry... seems a bit more documented than your recollection.

Not a problem. Folks can't answer what they don't know.

I'm still curious. I find it odd this car appears not to have popped up anywhere.

On page 3 of the "Winter Issue -1982/83 Corvette News", there is a small picture of the last 82, coming off the Bowling Green assembly line. The car appears to be black, and there is a banner hanging over it that says: "Corvette End of an Era '82 A New Beginning '83 Bowling Green Kentucky"

The caption reads "On October 12, the last 82 rolled off the assembly line in Bowling Green Kentucky. Judging from the photo, it was cause for great jubilation. Now - it's onward and upward as the plant readies the line for the all-new Corvette scheduled to make it's debut this spring."

There's no mention of what became of the car, but I kinda thought GM kept it for their collection?

Excellent question. This car would have a significant historical value for the last of the longest generation run and the last of the 63 chassis design.

I can't point to a source either, but at the time seem to recall that the last car was going to be put away by GM - - never thought about it before, but later assumed that it must be at the museum - -evidently not the case.

It'll be fun to learn the whereabouts . . .

Mike, I haven't been to Bloomington since 2006, but I swore a father/son team had the last St. Louis car, the last '81 & I also thought the last '82 Corvette at one of the last Bloomington Gold Special Collections? Thought it was possibly, and I'm almost sure of it the Special Collection that featured all C3 Corvettes(don't remember which year though). Thought the son's name was Kevin Adams? This goes back a couple of years.

If it is, I haven't seen it but that only means it wasn't on display at the times I have been there.

He had the last St. Louis and first BG cars at one time but has parted ways with them. They've made a couple trips through Barrett-Jackson since: http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2011/...ttes-bookends/.

Not sure where the last C3 is.
