Got hit by a drunk driver.
Well got hit head on by a drunk driver yesterday afternoon. I feel very lucky after seeing the vett today. The other driver swerved into my lane sideswiped the truck in front of me then we hit head on. Was on a bridge so I could not do anything but I did swerve to the right a little bit. We were both doing 50mph.
Air bags went off and had my seat belt on. Had my steering wheel angled pretty low (don't know if that helped) my thighs just clear it when I get in and out. I think I hit my head on the roof or post above the side window. So got some cuts in my hair line and a scrap on my forehead. Lower leg/ Calf got ripped open by the clutch peddle getting pushed up. Driver side wheel actually came through the floor by the peddles. Docs said I had a small concussion.
When the wrecking yard guys saw me today, they could not believe I was walking. Said I should get another vett since I was standing there. The person who hit me got air lifted... But goes to show we have some pretty safe cars! Here are the pics of the damage.
Still stuck inside.
Brand new Lg cooling ducts.
Even cracked the rotors.
Brand new tires and rotors.

Make sure you get a GOOD lawyer. You need to take the scumbag for everything he has! He could have killed you! I have ZERO respect for people who drive drunk!

Guess people had already called police on the driver. When i came to in the car there was already a officer there telling me to turn the car off.

"Really glad to hear that you lived to tell about it! And thanks for your photos showing us, as to how safe our vettes can be. Still I don't think I'll share this post with the misses."
"Again, Really glad to hear that you are alright!"

Glad you are OK and able to post your story so soon after the accident. This type of story usually ends where the drunk driver walks away and the innocent victim is airlifted from the accident scene.
Good to see that your C5 Corvette took such a strong hit and still protected you enough to walk away.

So very glad that you are alive and kicking!
Take that useless SOB for everything he has.
We lost our eldset sons fiance a few years back (he nearly died as well) to some piece of S&it, drunk and high, head on with no insurance etc etc.....
No simpathy or tollerence for a..holes who drive intoxicated ! NONE!!
Air Ambulance should have dropped him out at 2500 ft.....
Am very glad you are alive!

Sorry for your loss of a beautiful car. But as stated, replacable. Gald your ok. Good luck with the legal action. On the bright side, you may find it a good time to upgrade to a C6 and maybe even a Z06 if the seddlement is good enough

Thank God you only received minor injuries - good thing the Vette is a very safe car. Hope you come out OK with the insurance settlement and I too would look at a good lawyer.
