Default Impossible items to find

Serious, fun or just venting:
What items for your C4 have been impossible for you to find?

Ill start, I have an 87 convertible and 2 items elude me
1. Retrofit kit for hardtop conversion
2. A good condition 3rd brake light lens

What's your needle in the haystack (sort of speak)?

ZF6 Driveline Components. That don't suck.

Ie. Flywheels, Clutch Disc, Throw Out Bearings, Pressure Plates,Master Cylinders, etc...

Unless its really high priced NOS OEM or High priced aftermarket stuff its junk. Even SPEC. is questionable from many experiences I've read/heard about. McLeod is good but bring $$$$.

The lack of QUALITY replacement Opti-Sparks. Lots of cheap ones, FEW quality ones.

NO KIDDIN'
I've heard stories about new clutches flying apart because they are now made of some inferior ChinaMetal! You can't find a flywheel that really fits except the Fidenza (sp) aluminum one that I hear is great for performance but tough to drive on the street without stalling or bucking.
I'd like to see some headers that actually bolt on a 96 that didn't cost an arm & leg or you didn't have to beat all to hell and saw up a bunch of brackets to make fit.
I know they made a million Mustangs and only a few thousand Vettes, but you would have thought somebody would have stepped up for Chevy’s Flagship performer!

You can make those our of fabric from a fabric store or simply remove yours and paint them with flat black paint and then replace them.

I retrofit a hardtop to the 87 I used to own. I did a writeup and it is in the stickies.
PM me and I will be glad to tell you how to do this.
You can find good used parts and great service from Jason at www.vette2vette.com

The cigarette lighter, female end of it that goes into the console panel, not the actual lighter ****.

Regular ones you find at the store will not work. The connector on the back is different, and Ecklers/MAD nor the rest had them when I last went looking.

Default A Few Others

I believe the following could be added to the list:

Front windshield replacement molding
Rear antenna exterior grommet
Original magnesium valve covers (One side may still be available)
Non-Bose rear speaker grill covers

I need a molded rubber hose that goes from the throttle body to the tube that goes to the passenger side valve cover. It carries filtered air for the PCV system.

I had to buy a used hose that connects the oil cooler to the block. It was over 20 years old.

1993-96 horn switches from inside the steering wheel

Parts been discontinued, checked Chevy dealer, told me there isn't one in any dealer in the us. Even contacted delco to see if they had one laying around. No luck

Checked all the standard after markets vendors with no luck either

Had a corvette salvage tell me he had a good one but wanted 100 bucks for it simply because he knew I couldn't get it anywhere else... I replied with "where I come from, that's simple price gouging, he could keep it"

Gm pt no. 17999094

Ac part no. D1774a
