I wonder too. I thought the idea was to seal everything up so the only air flow was thru the front plenum and thru the rad via the suction of the fans?
But that could be baloney too, I really don't know.

I would think it would hurt in the city driving and may help on the highway. But again what do I know. I am sure the factory had done both ways and looks like if it would work better cut out they would have done it to save on material. Robert

My cars a dedicated track car so I never tried the cut shroud on the highway, on the track I had no overheating problem with either so .....I do have lots of trans/engine and diff cooling however and this all helps keep temps down.
There was some discussion (on cut shrouds) in the AutoX/Racing section with favorable comments ...try a search there for more info.
Some time ago I removed the shroud completely and have a 14" electric fan installed that I turn on when idling and on pit in.
I have a Ron Davis Rad I'm waiting to install but the stock rad is fine for cooling just not very durable (for the track) with it's partial plastic construction.
BTW. I have 2 stock low mileage rads for sale if anyone's interested ?
