Default Tires on concrete

I saw a post inquiring about running old tires that still look good and if this was a good idea. I just wanted to post what I was told about cars that sit alot in the garage on concrete. I was told that concrete will suck the moisture out of the rubber leading to dry rot. It sounded good to me so my tires sit on 1/2" plywood just in case. Does this sound reasonable or is the wood worse?

You should be OK. I guess if you really wanted to be sure that the porosity of the wood doesn't draw any moisture from either the tires or the concrete, you could coat the wood with polyurethane...

I have also seen people put carpet pads or rubber mats under their tires.

The carpet would be easier to deal with than the wood, I think i'll switch.
