Default 1989 5.7 z07???

3 weeks ago I purchased a 1989 brite red corvette convertable with 22,ooo miles on it. The car is in great condition inside and out. On the back of the cat there is a emblem which reads Z07 chevy symbol then 5.7. Is this really a Z07 5.7? I know the engine is a 5.7 but I have seen many discussions on the Z07 and I'm not sure if this car is a Z07. Tjhe seller is well known in the corvette world (owning the Zora 1 etc.) Can any one help?

Outside of the ZR-1, there were no badges on the rear of a Corvette except for the "Corvette" above the license plate. Anything else is an aftermarket piece.

RPO Z07 was the designation for a new and improved performance suspension package and it appeared first in 1991. It replaced the earlier RPO Z51. Neither of these options were available on convertibles.

If the seller is "well known" in the Corvette hobby, I would think such a person would not try to dupe a buyer. And what were you told about this "Zora 1"??

I've always thought the Z07 in the C4 "era" became available as an option in '91MY. The Z07 option hadn't been produced as such for several years. Yours I don't believe is a "qualifier"!

I was told he owned the Zora ! and I went online and he does. His name is Skeet Mariano. Look it up, it's there.

Zora 1, I wish they would have made the 1990 Chevrolet Corvette CERV III Experimental !

Powering this prototype was a Lotus-tuned 5.7-liter V8 engine with twin Garett turbochargers. The 5.7-liter unit was capable of producing 650 horsepower. To keep the car in the driver's control, each wheel was equipped with dual disc brakes.

Sounds like you got bitten by a Skeet...

That said, the emblems are probably left over from some previous owner who wanted to brag/dress up/whatever his car.

Found this with a Google search:
http://lansdale.patch.com/articles/s...s-and-a-zora-1
This site lists a Zora 1 84 Corvette as one of the museum's displays:
