Default My 69 in the Italien / Austrian Alps!

This was long time a dream of me:

So, why not realize it now? Life can be short...
And i did:

The first Hotel was in Austria, 40km away from the Stelvio Pass (8500ft high!) The guys from Tog Gear said its the best road in the world, so i had to try it.

I got up at 4:30 in the morning, just to have the first sunbeams and the road for me alone

You have to take around 50 hard turns to reach the top, and the thin air was also a great adventure for the engine (and me ). The idle stalled to 500rpm, and a bit power was missing. But this were the only problems.

The way down was more fun, such hard turns.

In the valley i had to drive trough some italien villages:

To reach the Gavia Pass, only 8000ft high, but in my opinion,
the first part of that road is more fun to drive than the Stelvio.

Beatifull scenery:

I thought that i have to roll down again, just to drive it again
This was so great

With some surprises on the road:

Down on the other side in Italy i turned around an drove it again,
up until Stelvio. There i took the Umbrail Pass down to Switzerland.

That was also a nice road. Had lunch in a village there, an drove again up to the Stelvio

Then down the way i was coming from in the morning.
50km to Merano, then headed to Austria, to drive the Timmelsjoch Pass.

This road was also so much fun...you wont believe

Maybe they have some snow in the winter at this altitude?

Came to my next Hotel, 150km after the Timmelsjoch late in the evening, but was so happy about this great day. Nothing broken, incredible landscape, and that much driving fun....

The target of the next day was 160km away, the Gross Glockner mountain, the highest one in Austria.
This road is very famous in Europe, here are some pics:

Breathless

Mamots:

This was my great adventure, and the Vette made it without any problems. What a car!

I got some Videos too:

Wow. Breath taking scenery. I took a trip similar to this a few years ago but that was in my father in laws Audi A2. The Vette looks right at home in the Alps. I'd love to see the looks on the faces of the locals as that classic big block rumbled through those tiny cavernous streets. Are you Luftwaffe?

Beautiful pictures. I miss Europe. I spent two and one half years there in the military.

OUTSTANDING photos. You must be a professional photographer - if not, you should be. Your car is just as beautiful as the scenery. Thanks for posting - enjoyed it. Thank you!!! BK3

Well, the C3 may not drive like a Ferrari or Mercedes in the mountains...but the Mercedes and Ferrari don't give you the same feeling as when driving the C3 Corvette, either.

Nice Ride! Looks like you had a blast on your drive.

I would trade my 69 427 vert for a 12 cylinder Daytona spyder 8 days a week. I might even trade even for 73 coupe.

It has been 18 years since my last ride in a daytona spyder. A friend of my father had one when I was 13. I still remember the sound.

There is no comparison.

Beautiful beautiful roads and very nice Corvette! I would like to extend the invitation to all the Corvette drivers and drivers of american cars in general to American car meeting in Slovenia.

Great pictures. I'm sorry I couldn't join you for the trip. If you do "part 2" through the Swiss Alps, tell me.
