Default The new Corvette Ferrari

The more I look at the Jalopnik pics (the side view especially) the more it looks like a Ferrari 599 knockoff from the side. I know it is not really news but the real question -is this a plus or a minus for you?

I don't think it look's a 599 knock-off at all really and it's a design in it's own right.

A big plus, c7 will look better than almost anything on the road.

I respect your opinion, but to paraphrase an old political saying "I know Ferrari, and you (Corvette) are NO Ferrari." There is no way in my eyes, that the Jalopnik rendering could be compared to a Ferrari - look more closely please.

I would have to be taking a much higher quality of meds before I could ever agree to that!!

I think Ferrari is generally losing its mojo as of late... Except for the 458 , which is an incredibly desirable car. I think the 458 " Italia " is more desirable than Kate Beckinsale. Yes I do.

I'd vote a plus.

Further, we all love a Ferrari sound with its 9K redline, but our V8s torque at 1500 - 2000 is so streetable. The C7 will more than likely be great.

Also could be the other way around..Ferrari is emulating Corvette.

I didn't say it is identical, just that it is a knockoff.

GM has been borrowing european design since at least the early 50's. Harley Earl was a big fan of european designs. I think the C7 has some Lamborgini design cues mixed in with a bit of Ferrari, I like it, and think it will look much better in person than the jalopnik renders indicate.

I actually like the Jalopnik rendering, and I think having a similar look to the 599 is a plus.

I've seen the Ferrari reference posted on the forum earlier and read similar comments in other publications as well. I guess the rear side window/hatch treatment is what peaks my interest as to what will become of our current storage area and how/how much of the rear will actually open. This is what contributes to the Ferrari 'look' in my opinion, as the rear glass will likely be quite different than what we've been accustomed to. It seems like the Jalopnik is quite accurate-my hope is the actual car is 'softened' from the illustration and a bit 'longer/lower' in appearance. It seems like the illustration comparing the two in this thread has taken that into account somewhat. I would view it as a plus, not because it's copying Ferrari but that it is a good design. Either that, or I'm losing it after reading/looking at so much C7 speculative material. Despite all the negative comments on the rear I'll hold final judgement until the unveiling.

the C6 (2005) stole cues from the Ferrari 360 (1999)

the C7 (2014) stole cues from the Ferrari 599 (2007)

good thing? if you like being 6-7 years behind the curve. dont get me wrong, it looks great, but it'd be nice to say a 2020 Ferrari stole cues from the 2014 Corvette.

I don't mind it from the side view. It doesn't make my third leg dribble but it's fine. On the other hand, I'm really bummed out if that's going to be the rear end with Camaro taillight ripoff...

I guess I can match up some of the Ferrari features loosly with some of the Vette features, but to be honest I don't think they resemble each other any more than the C5 looks like the last version of the RX7. Both of those cars had pop-up headlights, smooth panels, side coves, etc... but where distinctly different. I actually wish the new C7 DID look like the Ferrari.

Well, it is usually the WAY more expensive car that gets imitated by the 'value' car.

Exactly. Hopefully I won't get stuck behind one

Well if you think about it, how many different things can you do with a front engine car before there are things that start to look alike?

I mean they both have the same platform, 4 wheels, 2 doors and a front hood and rear hatch.
