Default [ACCIDENT] C5 Corvette vs Pickup in Rural Indiana Crash

A 54 year old man from Northern Indiana was attempting to pass a line of cars Saturday afternoon when he crashed into a pickup that was turning left onto County Road 850N in Noble County.

The driver of the Corvette is in critical condition while the 16 year old driver of the pickup was uninjured.

The two vehicles ended up in a cornfield with the truck on top of the C5 Corvette.

The remarkable thing is that for a head on collision at speed both parties are still alive. Guess the C5 going under the truck lessen the impact. Speedy recovery to both drivers.

I think the picture illustrates the down side of these cars being so low. Also why deer almost always come through the windshield. After all, we hit them just about in the knees even if they're standing still!

Another good reason to be extra careful.

From the description, it looks like the pickup truck was ahead going the same direction as the Vette, then while making a left turn, the Vette collided into the truck while passing a bunch of cars on the left of a 2 way road. In other words, not head on.

When I read it i read, "the down side of these cars being so SLOW." I was like...so if it was supercharged he would have gotten over in time?? then I reread it

I'd guess the driver of a truck will nearly always be fine in a collision with a car especially a Vette. It sounds silly to say it's a miracle the guy in the truck is okay. U serious????

A little confused as to how this happened. At first I read it as the truck turned right onto the road the Vette was passing cars without looking right, which I have had happen a few times when I was passing cars(almost clipped a Mercedes that blew a stop sign at ~40mph onto the highway without looking to see me passing a car in a Durango with a trailer hooked up to it!), but if he was turning left I'm not sure. The impact certainly looks like it was a head on, and I can't believe the guy in the Vette made it through that!

He tried his best illegal move and didn't make it. I think I'll drive 55.

Looks like the roll bar in the Vette held up rather well.
