Default Family Feud: ZR1 vs CTS-V Wagon Drag Race

Watch it here: Family Feud: ZR1 vs CTS-V Wagon Drag Race

We love both of these cars. They're the crazy powerful, but vastly different. All things considered though, we'd expect the ZR1 to run away with it.

The key words there are we'd expect. Turns out things don't always go that way.

The race was won out of the hole. Great hole-shot by the Cadoo, and not so much for the ZR-1. The fact that the ZR-1 caught up shows that it is the faster car.

I would like to see those two up against a 2013 Ford GT 500.

You can hear he bogged the Vette it off the line. Driver needs to practice launching it.

I agree, it was like a bitch slap. But, on the other hand you have a $62,000 four seater, 606 rwhp, low 11's that will get over 20mpg on the hwy.

For the last couple of days, I have been thinking of selling the Pace Car to get one. Just a thought as of now.

Tires played a big role in that race (the CTS-V was on drag radials) as well of course, great race though.

Stock versus stock the C6 ZR1 (best of 10.66@132+mph bone stock...10.26@135+mph stock with just drag radials) will still beat the new GT500 almost every time but the car is still a beast regardless. 11.5s and traps as high as 129mph so far, and that's in current air. That's likely high 10s with just a rear tire swap.
I believe the car will ultimately put down stock C6 Z06 numbers come fall/winter and once it's on a tire with a great driver it could possibly match the C6 Z06's best 'drag radial only' times of 10.71@130+mph.

Both cars are owned by the same person. Neither car had their best run because of 95 deg heat and poor track conditions. The CTS-V is an auto and has cut high 1.5 60' times on the drag radials. This was the first time the owner had the ZR1 to the track.

Those facts should have been included with the original story; a logical explanation of the result. Which car was the owner driving (I bet he was driving the Cadoo) ? And congratulations to the owner for having a great collection of toys !

The owner was drving the ZR1. In the link I included he said they ran about 5 times that day with varying results depending how well he launched.

Right you are about the tires! Heavy rayon cords and hard compound are the answer for run-flats. But poorly transfer traction, handleability and power to the road. Rayon may be good for a thermos jug. But not for my Vette anymore.
