Manual owners - Skip Shift Eliminator?
How many of you manual owners add this mod to your car?
Tommy just called me and said that my car would be in this thursday or friday. When I test drove the manual cars I did not like the car forcing me to go from 1st to 4th. I am thinking on having it done at the dealer before I even pick it up.

When I ordered my '10 GS, I was thinking I might need the skipshift eliminator, but after driving the car for almost two years now, I see no need for it...it never interrupts my shifting...

In slow traffic around town, the skip shift can be a nuisance. I used the smart fuse method.....works great.

Have it, love it. In traffic that 1-4 shift is a bit--. I found that you can easily do 1-3 rather than 1-4, but it's still a pain. Put in the skip shift eliminator and be done with it.

SLP, $24 bucks or so. I put one in on my 02 Z28 and am going to do the same with the Vette. Best little change you can do just for piece of mind IMO. Almost got crushed in the Z28 one day and it intersection.

I prefer to decide when to shift gears, not have a nanny decide it for me. Installed the CAGS eliminator in the transmission harness right after I purchased my Z06, nearly four years ago, and not a single problem. I've seen quite a few posts where people that used the blown 'smart' fuse, have a CEL after a while.

Mine has been fine for 4 years, but another $2 fuse would fix it if I got a cel. It's the same thing however you do it, a resistor tricking the skip shift control.

Save yourself some money and use a blown smart fuse...Do a search here on the forum.
And before a bunch of people tells you it will throw a code, that is rarely the case, if ever....I think most are pissed they spent 10x more than they needed to.

Do not have it and in over 4 years have really not seen a need for it. Once or twice I have noticed the light come on and I just give it a bit more gas and that's it.
I do not drive in a lot of bumper to bumper traffic if I did it could be an issue.

I installed one on my 2005 Z51, it caught me making a U turn in traffic and when I needed 2nd gear I got 4th. Never a problem with it after the install. My 2009 Z51 for whatever reason, gearing, throttle response, I don't know, has never shifted me to 4th, so I never installed one. It's been about a year now and I don't need the fix. It may be that I keep the NPP exhaust growling at all times and I just like the way it sounds around 3000 rpms--eddie

Most smart fuses have two LEDs in them (one for each direction of current flow) and one lights up when the fuse is blown.
What is happening with the blown smart fuse is the LED passes voltage so the computer thinks the fuse is good, but not enough current to kick the relay that locks out 2nd gear.
Every time you shift in a manner that 2nd would have been locked out, the LED lights for a moment. After awhile the LED may burn out, turning the fuse around puts the LED from the opposite direction into the circuit and the CEL should clear.
