Local Hot Rod Meet in Concord tonight:
We have a Hot Rod meet in Concord Calif. every friday night at 05:30pm. Bunch of different cars show up from classics to rat vehicle. Tonight I saw this one a combo clean classic with rat rear end, intended to be that way. Just wanted to share this with you all, enjoy.. I told the guy, we are starting a fund raiser to get the rest of the money so you can finish painting this classic.. He only laughed, he really loves it this way, he gets a lot of looks... Don't you just love Americans, greatest sense of humor...

That's Art Tweeten's car. He's a great guy. Did you look through the book of names people have come up with for the car? Some fun ones in there. Mine was Half-@$$ed Glass.

Correct, Art, and yes, he showed me the Blue Binder and the story of the vehicles past. All the past owners are still in Lafayette Calif. I love attending these local shows, great guys, lots of experience and wonderful cars...

That is different - not sure I could keep it looking like that on purpose, but I'm sure it does get the looks and comments from people. The guy does have a sense of humor and really thinks outside the box when it comes to his car.

Thanks for the picture, But why would someone take a nice car and not finish it? It would look so much better if finished and painted and worth a lot more.

I don't think that I could leave that car that way but at least he has fun with it.

That is just nuts, maybe if I had two or three of them laying around, then I could have fun with it, but after two or three weekends out would come the paint guns! Quite the conversation piece that's for sure, Pretty cool though, thanks for sharing!

The car had pretty much become a flower pot in someone's yard when he finally talked the owner into selling it. It was in such bad shape that he came up with the idea of doing a complete mechanical resto but leaving the visual 100% original.
After buying it, he found that the front end was in even worse shape than he thought. Bad enough that it really couldn't be saved. He had a local shop here (that has the molds) pop him a new front clip. At that point, it would never look original, so he came up with the "half baked" idea. It shows everyone what it DID look like and what it looks like now. He did an amazing job on the restored half and an even more amazing job on te subtle transition between the two halves.
The first time he brought it out he said that after a year or two he may go ahead and finish it. By the next time I saw him, he said "It's done". He loves it, and the people at the shows love it just as much.
Would the OP have even posted about another typical nicely restored C1 at the local hotrod show? I don't think so.

Yup, they had Mopars, classic trucks and several different years of Corvettes. Even a race boat with a 602 blown Supercharger with open pipes (very very loud, ear bleeding loud). Here is a shot of my 1999 Black on black vette with my friends Pete's Black vette and a red 66 Classic.. (mine is the black vette in the middle, Pete's is on the right..)
