Will they ever get the rear end right?

Will they ever get the rear end right?
i am hoping that Camaro rear end Car and Driver pictured is just Corvette playing a silly joke on us.
Please tell me they are not going to repeat the C4 (expensive plastic Camaro) debacle which took an especially tragic turn for the worst when they went to square tail lights.
FOLKS . . CORVETTES HAVE ROUND TAIL LIGHTS !!!
(in my opinion) Even the early 60's with the elongated lights looked round from behind.
And I do not mean oval !!!!
If the designers would start with this simple rule and go from there I will be ever so happy. Hate to think we could be stuck with this for 10 years until a C8 comes along !!

I love the rear on my C6. That Jalopnik thing is atrocious. Looks like something a bored teen would doodle on this notebook in class. I would be embarrassed driving that thing.

Well, they were planning on getting it wrong, because there were only 895 hyperbolic posts about it on CorvetteForum since Jalopnik dropped their illustrations four months ago today... but now that there are 897 posts, they've changed their minds.

I'm interested in the C7 but if it looks like that in anyway I'm out, and just stay happy with what i got, because I am.

The sad thing for me is that I like what they are doing overall, then you get to that rear and it's like WTF???

They nailed it with the stingray concept, I thought. The high haunches (wheel wells) is an awesome idea, looks very different and strongly evokes the C3.

Could be part of the significant change that was hinted of.
Using a shared platform for multiple vehicles, much like Nissan with their 370z/G37/FX.
Pretty big change, but probably saves money in the long term.

That said, I have few doubts they will have the rear end looking good by production time, however i do have doubts that the taillights will be round. I also doubt it will look just like a Camaro either. What it will do is probably make the C 6 look dated.

"If the tail lights are square I'll never buy it!" Sign that contract now so that when it comes out we can bank on you never changing your mind.

I remember being a 23 year old with a Z06 I had just bought in 04 when the C6 launched. I said I don't like it (meaning I just bought this and cannot afford to sell my car and buy a new Corvette) but after 8 years guess what? I like it. Pop up headlights suck. I would get 1-2 mpg more on average if 50% of my commute didn't consist of driving around with 2 square parachutes on the front of my car. Just saying.

There's something very cool about a C5 approaching with just the DRLs lit, though. Way down low -- so low in fact they pushed the limits of legal -- with no headlamps distracting from the long low mean curvaceous hood.
I know popups ain't ever coming back, and that's a good thing; I just hope the walleyed-bug look dies with C6, because honestly it's kind of ugly and generic.

The C4 had round taillights form 84 to 1990. Then switched to a round corners on a squre shape. The ZR-1 had the same rounded square tail lights. The C5 tail lights were not round but oval in shape. So are you saying they were not round by omitting the C4 or you don't like the rear end on the C4?

There are so many ways the tail lights could be designed. Why limit the design to ancient history. Currently we have no idea what GM is considering, I would think some design elements have still not been finalized.l
