well i got confirmation today from rick hendrick
my shop buys a lot of wholesale goodies from rick hendrick chevrolet in duluth, ga and i know the general sales manager. i stopped in to pick up some parts and he stopped me to notify me that the gm reps just stopped by with actual pictures of the new C7. He was not allowed to keep them (obviously) but he said the production version is almost an exact match to what jalopnik posted on the renderings. he compared the front end to a lamborghini. there are a few differences on the actual car versus the renderings. it looks like i might be trading up real soon!!! figured you guys might want to know! they did not specify powertrain options btw...

Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Jalopnik renderings and even these GM reps stopping in at Hendrick were all just a big smokescreen?
"Hey guys here's what we'll do. Let's let a couple of journalists in to see some older scrapped clay model design that we'd conjured up, let them leak the photos of it to the magazines/internet, then we'll visit a few suppliers/big dealerships and show some photos of that same model and then the WHOLE WORLD will think that's actually the new C7!
In the mean time we'll keep the REAL design well hidden/totally confidential until we're actually ready to drop the bombshell!"

Highly unlikly, the test mule running around in the snow already confirmed jalops renderings for most of us.
LOL

I think of New Coke, when people thought it was just a marketing move to reinvigorate sales of original-formula Coke. "We're not that smart."
GM is not that smart. Sure, they might fantasize about being able to do that, but it's a significant investment in subterfuge and only works if the real car is never spotted.
Occam's razor -- the simplest explanation is likely the correct one.

I'm pretty sure of one thing, and that is, "It will be better than C4, C5 and C6". That's all it matters to me.
I say this because that's how it's been from C4 on!
And for the money, reliability, easy to fix, you can't get anything else in the market. Go drive a Ferrari or Porsche and beat it like you do with your Vette, and you'll be in the shop every time.

1987 Mustang. 1999 Porsche 911. 2003 Viper. 2004 Corvette. 2004 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. 2010 Mercedes CLS. Lots of people thought these looked worse than their predecessors.
Sorry you don't like the Jalopnik illustrations. It's far from the first time anyone has thought a halo car was messed up. And to be fair, you haven't really seen C7 yet.

It's always the same story on every car forum/board.
Most owners of the current model in this case the c6 will hate and criticize the new and upcoming model. Why?
Because they are jealous and want to make themselves feel better about the money they spent.

Well, it's real easy to get a car wrong.
For instance the NSX concept car, likely headed for production, looks exotic while the Lotus Evora looks toyish.
So how is the Corvette trending ?
C5 Covette
47.7" height
73.6" width
104.5" wheelbase
3245 lb weight
C6 Corvette
49.0" height
72.6" width
105.7" wheelbase
3208 lb weight

I remember seeing the spy shots of the C6 and thinking they'd gone and ruined the vette.
A few months later I was standing in the showroom looking at one in the flesh and loving it.
So hard to tell anything from spy shots.

What?? How the hell do you get there from here? No, by my logic, some people will prefer the C6 to the C7, even after the C7 is in production.
After all, there are some folks who still own C5s because the C6 doesn't float their boat.

Because you used the word engineering and you already dislike the c7 even before you've seen the car in person. I wonder why???????

I can't stand that type of argument. Some people always try to inflict guilt on others. It probably reflects their own twisted inner thoughts.
I want a C7 at any cost (almost); but certainly not at any looks. Anyone see a problem with that?
